But there are millions upon tens of millions of Americans for which that is not an option without breaking the law. I know you aren't suggesting they break the law, even though it would be pretty easy to do...so it would seem that, for these people, there is no such option as a face to face transfer.

I suppose we could get into a discussion about whether or not it is plausible for law enforcement entities within the US to look at sales or registration records when enforcing a future ban/turn in/confiscation...but that probably ends with the conclusion that such a thing is completely within the realm of possibility.

Considering those things, I don't believe it is accurate to flat out say that wanting an off the government-books AR style rifle is "ridiculous", and I don't agree with the broad-brush insult made by another member in which these people are referred to as wearing tin foil hats
