AR Parts Availability in a Panic or "Post-Ban"

Just ordered 2 Aero Precision stripped lowers, one stripped upper, and 3 ea. of 10 and 20 round PMAGS.

Now that you have 2 lowers (good call) I'll add my 2 cents:

Mags. This will be one of the first bans they try to ram down our throats. Get some 20 and 30 round aluminum mags from NHMTG/Okay. How many is up to you, but 5 of each would be a good start. These are the best USGI mags out there.

While you are researching what you want to build, start getting some of the common parts that are used in any 5.56 AR, such as the pistol grip, the lower parts kit, and a quality HPT/MPI bolt carrier group. As you accumulate this, you can decide what kind of barrel, handguard or free float rail, sights, buttstock and carbine or rifle buffer system you want.

As you are doing this, keep an eye out for ammo deals, cause prices will go up and availability will go down as we get closer to election time. And write a friendly letter to your representatives stating how you value your rights, including the 2A.

You can pick up a lot of decent parts from palmetto state armory. It's probably cheaper to just buy the whole lower parts kit at once. They also have good D&H USGI 30 round magazines for $7 each a lot of the time.

Vote correctly and the panic and post ban won't happen. Do that instead of stirring the pot.

Just my .02,

Regardless of the political outcome, I foresee at least a slight uptick in AR parts panic simply because it IS an election year where two presidential contenders are noted antis. Many who vote don't have the confidence in other like minded people getting out to drop a ballot in the box. What they CAN control is stocking up "just in case".

Compound this with the tragic shooting in California, there may be a run on not only ARs and parts but probably .223/5.56 ammo as well.

I plan picking up a couple of boxes of .38 special today. If I see some affordable .223, I might snag a box or two of that just in case. I'd say mags might the first thing to be snapped up, but I have 5 or 6 of them which is good enough for me. I actually might pick up a 5 rounder or two anyway. I don't shoot my AR enough to wear anything out before either the panic subsides or the political winds change again.
