In the process of finishing up my AR, I'm looking for the right sling and buis.

For the sling, I already have tried a single point sling. No good because you would beat the crap out of your legs if you had to move. I have a 3 point sling (spec-ops 101) and while it is a great sling, Im still not totally in love with it and my stock (ctr's mounting doesn't work very well).

So Im thinking about getting a 2 point sling and would like something that is quick adjusting, I was thinking of a blue force gear padded double A or vickers combat applications sling. Anyone know the differences?

Also, Im looking for some good buis. Im thinking about arms, gg&g, or troy; which of these would work best with an eotech? Which rear is the lowest when folded down? Are any besides the arms spring loaded?

For the BUIS: Troy for a fold down, LaRue if you want fixed. IMHO there are no equals. Others are good, but Troy is the best fold down period if that's the route you want to go. LaRue is the best fixed (with LMT a close second).

For the sling, I got a Gear Sector GS 2P two point sling that is great. I'm partial to the two point setups, and I have an Israeli Zahal 2pt on my IDF clone, Blue Force 2pt slings from DSG on my Bravo Company Midlength, Bushy superlite, and AK, and the Gear Sector resides on my LMT. I like them all to be honest. If disconnectability is crucial to you I think the Gear Sector tops them, but I really like the Zahal on my superlite. Gear Sector is more adjustable however so you may want that ability.

LaRue makes a nice 2 point, padded & quick adj. Like my MI rear BUIS, spring loaded, $90ish:)

good qr for sling?

hope this is not hi-jacking the thread but what are some good QR's for slings?
names and pics?
thanks

In my eyes, a back-up iron sight should be lightweight, simple, and rugged.
Two that I use with excellent results are the Matech,

And the Hahn Precision,

I have come to favor the Hahn because of the simple A1 windage wheel and the larger apeture.

For a sling, I normally use single points and have tried the 2 point Vickers slings.
My favorite two point sling continues to remain the Spec-Ops Master Blaster.
Simple and fairly inexpensive, a best buy.
I think the instructions illustrate the sling better than a picture of the sling.

A quick detachable mount for the optic is much more desirable than worrying about co-witnessing the BUIS through it.
If the optic goes bad, it is better to quickly get it off the rifle.

I have a 3pt. sling[spectergear.com] on my M-4. Like it. But this is my first 3pt. sling.

Vickers or Viking, there are subtle differences and each have their fans but either one will work.

Also, agree with above, BUIS begin with Troy and end with Larue, with nothing in between, based on your need for fixed or flip.

Specter Gear has a number of permutations for slings.

I just picked up a CQB with quick release for a M-14. Good quality. Good customer support and in stock.

To answer your sling question, the Double A VCAS has a polymer slider instead of the aluminum slider on the regular VCAS. The Double A is also padded where as the regular VCAS is not. The Double A has QD sling loops sewn into the sling, so you wouldn't be able to use any other method of attachment (HK hook, MASH hook, regular sling swivels).

For a good two point your only options are VCAS or VTAC (Viking Tactics). They are both quick adjust with the VTAC having a broader range of adjustment and the VCAS having no excess webbing through the range of adjustment.

I use a MaTech BUIS but I would have gotten a Troy if money were no object.

I should also mention...

I have a couple of Boonie Packer slings for T&E. I've gotten through the single point, and there's a review of it on my site. I'm going to be jumping in on the two points shortly.

From the single point, I can tell you that the construction is good and the price (under $20) is GREAT. I expect that the two-points will be the same. I'm going to start sussing out the differences this week hopefully.
