During the Cov-panic shutdown I had a chance to assemble another AR. The objectives were to be:
1. Reliability (chrome lined, quality upper, bcg.)
2. Lightweight 20" barrel for velocity and energy.
3. Green
I had not had a chance to try it out at 200 yards until today. Here it is..

Mixmaster parts:
Del Ton 20" lightweight 20" chrome barrel kit
Geissele trigger and bolt carrier group
Aero Precision "A" forge mark upper receiver
OD green furniture from Del-Ton, Rguns
Older SAA forged lower receiver.
H Buffer
Weaver USA Premium MSR mount
Weaver V7 scope
It went together fine. The only wonkiness involved is the feel of the Aero dustcover shutting against the Aero upper. (why, Aero?) but other than that, really nice!

Shot my first 200 (yes 200) yd. 3-shot group today. 55 gr. ammo:

After that group , I figured it was time to shoot some pop cans also at 200. 4 up, 4 down. No misses. Pretty good for a rifle assembled for reliability, and low weight. The ammo was bulk Hornady ammo too.

Stoner was quite the engineer. His design is nothing short of amazing. It is quite common for people who would not know how machines and tools in a Smiths shop work, would not even know how to use them, can make a rifle. First time I did a build I had never stripped one. Back when I owned them only cleaned them, never wanted to take one apart. So ordered a book and DVD. Turned out I did not need either one. Made a Casper lower, put the whole thing together with my laptop and Youtube. It was so easy I was shocked. Amazing design. Not to mention it's fun. When you build one and take it out and it works? What a rush.:D
