New year, new challenges. It's of course an election year, inflation isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Costs of ammunition is going up according to Vista. Components are ridiculously high, wars in Ukraine and Israel are still going on. The US border debacle is sizzling.
Are ya stocked up on your guns, ammo and components if ya reload? I'd think if ya aren't, ya better get while the getting is good. One little tick the wrong way, and over goes the dominos. One tragic mass shooting to take place that really would be like a Sandy Hook and BAM. Everything will be gone again and it'll be like the Sahara (baren and bleak)
I know so many folks and they think all will be ok for 2024 going into 2025. Maybe so, but I doubt it. I've politely encouraged them to get what they believe they need for preparation in case it happens. Better to have and not need, than need and not have..
I've always been stocked up. None of these runs on anything gun related has ever affected me. I believe in being always full when it comes to the larder.
How about you folks, are ya ready for that just in case it happens?

I shoot 3 matches a month if I can. In the winter I'll skip a few, occasionally one is cancelled. I reload my 9mm, 45acp, 40s&w. Those are my primary competition calibers. I don't need to load ammo for several years. My grandkids are just starting to shoot and I've got plenty of 22s for them for many years.

I’ve been buying more primers lately where I see the. Prices stabilized and supplies are available. I already have a base stock, but it’s a good idea to keep from drawing down stock now.

I am stocked up. I like reloading but had to stop. Last two weeks daytime highs in the teens and lows at night sub zero. This week temps warming into the 50's at the end of the week with rain. I will be shooting in the rain this week and be glad to do so.

Yes. I stocked up for retirement in 2019 with plans to shoot mostly reloads other than 22LR.

Brass - I narrowed down the calibers to 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP and .223/5.56 because they are the most common caliber brass I see at shooting areas (I dropped .380Auto/.300BLK/.308 after pandemic). I have 5 gallon buckets of brass to last rest of my retirement and always come back from shooting with more brass which are usually new/once fired brass next to factory boxes. So I am good on brass for reloading. 👍

Bullets - I am well stocked up on various pistol/rifle calibers and weights of bullets to last next 5-10 years.

Powder/Primers - I was stocked up for retirement and recently added TAC (Because AR Comp/Benchmark were not available/high cost), BL-C(2) along with StaBall Match (Because H4895/Varget were not available/high cost) and added more H335, my primary powder for .223. I have good supply of W231/HP-38, Titegroup, Promo and recently added No 2 with plans to restock BE-86 enough to last several more years.

22LR - I stocked up for retirement during low cost/surplus years of 2017-2019 when various 22LR were selling for $16-$20/500 shipped. I have shot over 45,000 rounds since retirement averaging 10K round/year. To lower cost of centerfire ammunition/reloads, I bought GSG 1911 22LR (To duplicate Sig 1911), Advantage Arms 22LR slide kit fo Glock 22 and CMMG 22LR conversion kits/BCA 22LR upper for cheaper shooting drills/fast point shooting training using same manual of arms/triggers. While well stocked, I continued to purchase various 22LR for now going on 10,000+ rounds of 47 brands/weights/lots of 22LR comparison accuracy testing.

I shoot 9mm and 22 mostly. I stocked up in both around the pandemic and still have most of it. I've retired but have had medical issues that have kept me from the range. I have a fair amount of .380 too, though I've sold my 380 pistols. But if we have a shortage, I will probably offer that to friends who need it.
It's an election year, there will be drama and uncertainty. Anything could lead to an ammo run. This thread is a good reminder to prepare now and not get caught in a bad situation.

Why, yes, I'm stocked up.
Problem is, I'm working six days a week, up to ten hours a day.
Not much time for shooting... .
Looks like I found Waldo, and it’s because he & I are in the same spot. Stocked up, but no time to shoot.

Actually, I’m mostly stocked up. I could still use another case or two of 9mm and maybe a case of .223, but that is for peace of mind, not because I’m actually out of it.

Having got caught up in a shortage years ago I pretty much stay stocked up now days. I'm waiting on Starline to ship some brass and when Lapua starts production of 300 WSM and 222 brass I'll buy 500 of each. But everything else is good.

The last 2 years in Wa. state have been a nightmare. First it was the same ammo and component crunch that everyone else has been experiencing. So I bought ammo and components to get caught up.
Then came a magazine capacity bill. I had to spend a ton of money buying magazines before the window of opportunity closed. Then an "assault weapons" ban. Pretty much any semi auto centerfire rifle I wanted for the foreseeable future I had to buy right then or never again. SOL if you didn't already have magazines because the magazine ban came right before the "assault weapon" ban.
Now its a permit to purchase, ammo tax, etc....
The last 2 years have been nonstop panic buying here.
Consequently, It was literally impossible to get "enough" to last through 2024, unless you are over semi auto rifles.

I'm trying to stay ahead of it, I know I can shoot .22lr and .223 regularly for the next 5 years, the only thing I've not managed to stock and feel stocked with is 9mm because it's what I like to shoot the most and haven't dipped below 500rds in a good while but I ordered a case recently and if I can order a few more before prices go beyond $260/1K I'll feel a lil better about it and will adjust my shooting accordingly to wait out any insane price hikes that could last 1+ years.

I never used to police up my brass very much but now I do. Mostly because I used to shoot alot of steel case but now there isn't enough of a drastic price differential between steel/brass for me to worry about it. I will be reloading whatever I can.

The other thing I have none of though is 12ga #8 for trap. For the last couple years I've had anywhere between 500-1500rds of 12ga #8. Now I have none. Hopefully by spring I'll have a lil stock of that too but I will always have the "bare necessities".
