I finally found a reasonably priced Arisaka 38 to go with my chopped up carbine. I wasn't so lucky on a used Beretta 92FS where the sales person said "We were instructed not to give any discounts on guns right now."

It looks like it was refinished, but I couldn't pass it up. The mum is not intact like it is on my carbine.

The wood looks pretty good on the rifle. I think they both look pretty good as far as owning a couple of pieces of history. Do you shoot them? The price on the RCBS die set for the 6.5 about gave me a heart attack but given the cost and difficulty of finding factory ammo it will still eventually pay for itself.

I have an early 1940's bayonet for my Arisaka's. I found it at an antique sale at the local fairgrounds. The owner had a booth with a wide selection of old "collectibles" and a few knives and the one bayonet. He didn't know what it was, and neither did I when I bought it, but a few hours of research on the internet did the trick and identified it as made by Hikari Seiki Seisakusho. It was complete with a sheath and a beautiful shiny blade, and since both of us were ignorant I got it for about 25% of real value.

I got a close out deal on some used RCBS 6.5 Japanese dies for $20. They had a set of 7.7 but I foolishly didn't buy those too. So with some Privi brass, I've been able to shoot the carbine and expect to shoot the other, which I just bought today.
