I finally got my new to me 1911 out to the range to try out. I traded an old Glock for it... it's got a High Standard rollmark but is marked "APINTL Phillipines - Pahrump, NV" and so was made in the Armscor factory alongside the Rock Island guns. Mfr was sometime in '07.
Finish on all raised areas of the pistol is pretty much completely worn off, so this thing was apparently carried a lot. Not sure how many rounds went through it before I had it, but bore was filthy when I got it, if in good shape.
On Friday Aug. 19th me and my buddy Vince hit the outdoor range at about 9AM. I brought my 1911 of course, he brought his P3AT, Ruger Blackhawk, and Taurus Judge. We set up targets at 7 yards and loaded up.
This Armscor shoots great!!! Off hand we easily kept whole mags (I have a 7rd Shooting Star for it) in the 2-inch bullseye.
We didn't put too many rounds through it... 20 rounds of Rem/UMC 230gr JHP and 57 rounds of Federal 230gr FMJ. For what it's worth, functioned perfectly.
Two thumbs up for this ugly old steel beast.
