I have no issues asking for a carry permit (TX) if they have one. I also do a bill of sale, take a pic of their driver's license, and have them sign a statement affirming they are not a prohibited person. I don't sell guns often enough for it to be an issue for me, luckily.

I've bought, sold and traded stuff on Armslist for a bunch of years. Haven't sold any lately due to the new costs. But my account allows me to see contact numbers for things in interested in. Have been thinking about paying to sell on Armslist since GunBroker now had ridiculous fees and taxes.
Since 2000 all private party transfers are suppose to go thru a FFL here in NV.

Back in the day, you could just run an add in the classified ad sporting goods section of the local newspaper. I was always looking through those adds when I was a kid. Pretty sure that the Moms Demand Tyranny put put an end to that. Slowly but surely, they're choking off our ability to buy, sell, trade, transfer or even inherit lawfully owned firearms. They pretty clearly want our firearms and the second amendment to die with us. I have sold guns on Armslist and I felt like it was a smooth transfer but I just avoid the site now that they've made it subscription based. It just never fails to disappoint and Gun Broker never fails to satisfy (or at least it hasn't for me yet but I'm sure others have been gypped there). Hopefully, Gun Broker survives the coming decades.

Luckily my gun interests finally ‘ coagulated’ into consistent interests at tbe same time Armslist began charging fees just to look at something,

or to try and make a contact (it helped when people listed phone numbers in sEcReT SpY cODe).

When this New Age Armslist started, whether it was prompted by many fraud attempts or not,

I simply found a nib or used gun (those 3rd Gen S&W are So Heavy!, or Single-Stack …and there is no warranty! ) , mostly via “Buy Now” on Gunbroker.

The masses of FUDDs (sharing interests with Schumer and Bloomberg) want some of my rifles to be banned and never buy them.
This keeps prices low enough for the rest of us to afford them. Thank you.

I bought four revolvers through Armslist in the past. Good deals, no tax or transfer fee made it a good place to make FTF transactions. I quit using Armslist when they starting charging to see prices or contact seller to ask question/additional photos. Used to have 12-14 pages of local ads but now more like 3-4 pages. Last time I attempted to buy(primers) there the seller made excuses why he couldn't meet FTF. Red flag #1 was primers were advertised as half the going rate. I smelled a rat so looked on Gunbroker and found the same picture of the primers the Armslist scammer used. Contacted Armslist & sent the photo of the GB ad to the scammer.

Armslist is dead and full of scammers. Definitely not worth the subscription.

Around here most Armslist sellers list their cellular number in the ad so a subscription isn't needed to contact them. Several LGSs have extensive listing. Not dead yet in these parts.

I've bought and sold on Armslist for years. Mostly, I've sold, just to get a better price for the gun I don't want anymore. Our local shops will only give you about 50% of a gun's value. I have often sold on Armslist, then had more cash to use at the local FFL to buy something I wanted.
If you have concerns, you might check with local police dept's. Many have reserved rooms at their local station houses where people can meet to do private transfers. We have a guy here who puts up ads on a regular basis and says he will only meet at the local county sheriff's office. No FFL fee to pay and very few bad guys will want to go to a police station to buy a gun.
I wonder how long Armslist can last with their current rules. We used to have 6-8 pages of ads here everyday. Now it's 2 or 3, mostly FFLs.

I’ve been looking for quite a while on Armslist for the deal I just found.A dealer with a listing I was interested in and willing to ship. Since the great COVID scare Started, things have been even dryer, but Armslist as a whole is nearly gone except for dealers and those few sellers that actually enter a phone number, but folk are still pretty impressed with their stuff, based on the prices I’ve been seeing.

I abandoned them when they started charging buyers. I understand charging sellers and I would willing pay to list a gun, but I’m not going to pay just to browse. Before the change I bought and sold at least a dozen guns there with no issues.

You do not have to pay to browse. You only have to pay to list and to contact sellers. When I sell, I put an email address and/or a phone number in my ad. I use a dedicated email address and Android phone app telephone number, so that my real number and email address isn't spammed.

Then you have extra GB fees, shipping fees, have to go through the process of shipping a firearm, etc. I perfer local face to face ArmsList first, then online gun forums, and GB last. I never had any issues buying or selling to established members on firearm forums. No GB fraud, fees, non paying bidders, etc.

I have bought and sold on Gunbroker and it is my medium of choice. Armslist is dead to me due to the scammers. They apparently do not care as I reported a scammer to them and they were still on the site. The business address listed for the item did not match the state and address of the actual business name that was on the picture in the ad.
