Arthritis Question

Geezer forum?

Now I resemble that. How old do you have to be? Whatqualifications..unable to touch toes, maybe have to wear braces/support on body parts?

Right there with you buddy. Maybe have some new replacement parts? Hips knees, shoulder joints?

You know what they say... getting old aint for sissies. :p

I know where youre coming from, I started running into some of that in my mid 50's, especially with my knees, and somewhat in my hands. After a useless run of shots in my knees, I did some homework and started taking Osteo Bi-Flex, Turmeric, and Boswellia supplements, and have for a number of years now, and it seems to be doing the trick. I also notice my hands seem to be better as well. Still have some minor aches and creaks, but nothing like before.

I also think that whatever you do, dont stop doing it and try and stay as fit and active as you can. Everyone that I worked with that retired just ahead of me who just went home and sat down in their recliners and did nothing but suck down beers and a pack or two of smokes a day, were all dead within a year or so.

And dont take whatever the doctors tell you as gospel. Their drugs aint always the answer, and I swear sometimes, a lot of the problem. And after what went on with ll the covid BS, my trust level in them has gone WAY down. Dont be afraid to do your own homework and ask a lot of questions of them when you do see them. Its amazing how different the conversation is and often changes when you are well-informed beforehand. ;)

Lots of good advice on shooting and dealing with arthritis pain. I’ve got it throughout my body from ankles to my neck.

I have recently discovered something new that is truly amazing, but most folks just don’t want it bad enough. But I’m now rarely taking either ibuprofen or CBD (which helps but get good stuff)…and my pain is almost always a 0-1 where it used to be a constant 3-5 and flare to 8-9.

1. Stop eating all foods with sugar

2. Stop eating all processed foods and all non-organic grains.

3. Increase water intake to at least a gallon per day.

4. Greatly reduce/eliminate all dairy.

My pain was significantly reduced in 48 hours on a clean diet of quality meat, pasture raised eggs, coconut/olive/avacado oil, and lots of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds.

If you suffer arthritis, I promise this will help significantly.
I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been more posts in this thread about diet. A few years ago I saw a thread (I believe it was on rimfirecentral, but it might have been here on THR) about arthritis, and there were a few guys who recounted what they'd done to change their diets, and how a very dramatic reduction in symptoms followed. Some of these posts were after years of battling the ailment, and then being practically symptom-free for some years following the diet change.

Aside from Buzznrose, have any of you guys tried making changes to your diet, and if so, did you see significant positive results that you believe were clearly related to the diet change?

I have had to change my diet since I also have high cholesterol and Type II diabetes on top of arthritis and fibromyalgia. A change in diet helped a little for me but it wasn't a significant change.

I avoid fried foods, drink much less alcohol, and have fizzy carbonated water nearly as much as I used to drink sodas. Plus an increase of exercise.

My hands seem to be more pain free. Wish I could say the same about my knees. o_O

(Only 58 here, btw)
