I just got back from the range. After taking a coil off the recoil spring, the Luger fired seven mags worth (from six different mags) without a jam. (I had jams with two other mags.) First I fired two mags worth through the Mec-Gar mag with the replaced stronger spring. Perfect. But other Mec-Gars with their original springs performed just as well. So replacement of mag springs does not seem to be necessary, but it doesn't hurt. My ammo was the cheapest I buy: Blazer. It is wonderful to know that my analysis of the problem (recoil spring too strong to allow full cycling) was right and that the fix worked. This Luger has a very soft trigger pull and is very accurate despite the tiny sights.

I also fired a couple of mags of .40 from an Astra A-100. I had some jams but I wonder if this was caused by my not keeping my arms sufficiently rigid. This handgun is quite accurate in single action mode.

I also fired both of my CZ-52s. I have replaced the firing pin in both of these to get an easier trigger pull. Even with this modification, I cannot achieve much accuracy with these pistols even when I really concentrate and take my time. But they are totally reliable and fun to shoot.
