My local gunshop has acquired a number of collectable Colts for sale on consignment. I have no interest in this, other than to pass it along to you all. The shop is Bel Air Gun and Pawn in Fallston, Maryland. The phone number is 410-877-7120.

Some of the more interesting items I noticed there were:

Colt Custom Cobra Set: Two NIB nickle-plated revolvers, both .357 Magnum, with mirror-image serial numbers. One is 6", with dark wood target style grips, serial number 0XXCCC. The other is 4", with light wood combat-style grips, serial number CCC0XX. The grips have an inset enameled Cobra emblem. Each revolver has the words "Custom Cobra" engraved on the left side of its barrel. The revolvers are packed in a styrofoam box with papers but no outer carton. Priced as a set only at $1700.

Diamondback revolver, about 99%, .38 Special, possibly a 3" barrel, priced at $695

Several new and unfired Cobra and Detective Special revolvers in .38 Special, and one in .32 Colt, priced at $489 each. These all have unshrouded ejector rods and slim, fully-checkered wood grips with Colt emblems.

Colt .25 Auto NIB priced at $550.

Thanks for the info. I'm not a big Colt person myself, but I might check out the shop now.

Spot 77, if you want to check out Bel Air Gun and Pawn, they are at 2800 Bel Air Road (US Route 1) in Fallston, just about 1 mile north of the Baltimore County/Harford County border.

This time of year, they are open from 10 - 6 Tuesday through Friday, and 9 to 5 on Saturday. Closed Sundays and Mondays generally, though lately Dave, the owner, has been opening on Mondays.

Like a lot of small gun shops, Bel Air occasionally gets some rare or unusual items in stock. A couple of times each year, I'll wander in there, and find something that I just cannot live without. (Mrs. Beemerguy just loves that!) A couple of months ago, for example, I bought a beautiful S&W Model 624 there. It was dirty, having been shot and then forgotten about for a number of years, and the grips needed to be refinished, a total of about 2 hours work. It was priced at only $350.

The Colts that are there on consignment are beautiful, and I am still thinking hard about one of those Detective Specials. Whoever coined the phrase "They don't make them like that anymore" must have had something like them in mind.
