At least one state is trying to get legal voters. The Democrats are screaming bloody murder about it. I wonder if they are having their voter base demolished by eliminating illegal voters. :what:

Prop 200 Screening Out Illegal Voters
http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/5/9/114705.shtml

Stricter immigration laws now on the books in Arizona that require elections officials to check for proof of citizenship have uncovered thousands of new registrants who don't qualify to vote.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, state election officials credit the citizenship requirement contained in Proposition 200, the illegal-immigration initiative passed last November, for screening out the illegal voters.

In Arizona's Prima County alone, elections officials have rejected 59 percent of all applicants in the last two weeks - or 423 of the 712 new registrants.

"We rejected none during the same period last year," when six times as many people were registering because of the presidential election, said Registrar of Voters Chris Roads. "There was nothing in the law that required a rejection" last year, he explained.

Most voter registration forms rejected by Prima County since April 20, when officials started keeping track, were submitted by new voters who provided no valid proof of citizenship whatsoever, Roads said.

Despite the fact that it's illegal for non-citizens to vote, the rejections had Arizona Democrats up in arms.

Paul Eckerstrom, chairman of the Prima County Democratic Party, complained that forcing Arizona voters to prove their citizenship is "anti-American and anti-democracy."

"It's just another obstacle for voters to deal with," Eckerstrom griped. "The whole idea behind this thing is to suppress voter turnout."

He said Proposition 200's "real intent" was to make it difficult for voters - especially those inclined to vote Democratic - to cast a ballot.

I am guessing that Napolitano was voted into office by illegals given the number of disqualifications from voting they are running at now and Napolitanos rabid efforts to maintain her base (of illegals).

Nice to see the good ole' Dems showing their true colors on this one. Of course they want illegals to vote, that's a huge constituency for them.

:what: :what: There are states that let non-citizens vote?!?!? Have the Democrats proposed to disband the BP yet?
(Should I go to the US and help you guys?;) Promise to vote libertarian.;) )

Nap is trying to do everything she can to stop the affect of 200. She vetoed a bill that would have made you show an ID to vote and she just vetoed a bill that would have made all state business done in just English.

Please explain to me why it is that if ALL voters are required to show proof of citizenship to vote, why this would be more difficult for those inclined to vote democratic ?

Oh wait, maybe it is because they are the ones that are voting illegally ?

Arizona is at the forefront of busting liberals in the mouth and not batting an eye about it. They don't bow down to this victim mentality. They do what is right and let these POS cry about it.

Well Folks, I'm not a Dem and never have been. For that matter I'm not a Repub anymore. However, Y'all bashing the Dems over the illegal problem smacks of hypocrisy. Bush is one of the best friends that Mex ever had.
No offense intended....

I heard Bruce Jacobs reading this article this morning and he kept saying "Prima" County.

It's "Pima" County, the same county as Tucson is located.

Really ? Then explain why it is that Paul Eckerstrom, chairman of the Prima County Democratic Party is the one complaining about simply following the law ?
Did we bring it up ?

I'm referring more to Bush's (and the Repubs in general until recently) unqualified support of illegals. McCain comes to mind also....

Which has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. We are talking about illegals VOTING in ARIZONA.
The ones "up in arms" about it are the Democrats: according to this article. To me, that means only one thing.

You're absolutely right. Both parties have betrayed us. It's time they stopped getting elected.

How soon can the honest citizens that live in that state replace her? :cuss:

November, 2006 I believe ... But to beat her the Republicans are going to have to run a popular candidate.

That is truly delicious.

I would LOVE for CA to do a voter purge based on citizenship. I bet you the results would be astounding lol republicans take CA by a landslide.

Of course even that doesnt go as far as I would like, but I dont want to sound bloodthirsty or anything...

You make the mistake of assuming everyone who is anti-Democrat is therefore pro-Republican and pro-Bush. As Mr. Spock says, "there are always alternatives..."

True enough Spartacus. I voted Libertarian last election. I believe that the Dems and Repubs are just two wings on the same bird at this point in time.

Biker, in your first post, you seem to assume that the posters in this thread don't have a problem with Bush's negligence on illegal immigration. I would bet they do, but Bush doesn't have anything to do with this thread as it's discussing a state law in Arizona.

on topic: It amazes me that the Democrats can make statements like that and still feign such outrage when people point out that they just want illegals to be able to vote for them.

Yeah, it's time to sweep the Republicats out of office and replace them with open border Libertarians. . .no, wait just a minute. . . . :p

I'll repeat the main problem with the Libertarians. I voted for them, but honestly they need to take a more real-world approach. The open-borders policy is only predicated on a completely dismantlement of the social welfare system. Obviously that is something major I would focus on first but they dont even mention it in relation to immigration. Everyone gets the impression they want to continue the handouts to the illegals, while they really want to discontinue the handouts and watch people stop coming.

The Libertarians focus on their movement as a revolution in many ways. They seem completely unconcerned with introducing change into society slowly, not even from the standpoint of soceity's viewpoints taking time to change so that politicians are no longer afraid to do the right thing. In many ways, it is as if they are playing to lose.
