I have reverted back to carrying revolvers. I started in 1978 and carrying g professionally since 1982. I did go the semi-auto route for a long time. There is just something about a good wheel gun. I bought a S&W 640 Pro and sent it to M Carbo for a trigger job. It is a J Frame and fits my pocket good. I have a S&W M66 2.5” barrel for my belt. Waiting on my OWB holster from TT Gun Leather for my M66. A speed strip or speed loader on the side and I feel pretty protected.

Any other wheel gun carriers?

While woods hiking a GP100 3-4" 357 OWB in Simply Rugged holster. EDC is SP101 357 OWB 3 o'clock in Simply Rugged Silver dollar pancake or Desantis OWB. The plus for the Desantis is ease of reholstering and the minus is the thumb break. I prefer the SR. IMG_2695.JPG IMG_2780.JPG In the city streets PC Sheild 9 8+1 IWB & SP101 BUG.

Speaking of trigger-tuning a J frame -- I had my S&W 640 (.38 only) tuned by a local gunsmith several decades ago, and was left absolutely amazed by how well a J frame COULD be tuned... My only mistake was letting my wife use it... She promptly proclaimed it to be HER gun. :D

I've only been carrying since 2010, but in that time I've been through 5 CCW guns (and lets not talk about holsters) that never made it more than one or two years each becuase I just didn't like them for one reason or another, both revolvers and subcompacts. But I've been carring my K6s for 3.5 years now and believe it's "the one". I had it out last friday practicing draws with a shot timer, and finished up with some slow fire comparing it to my Hi Power and full size P320. I was amazed I was able to match the hi-power at 7 and 10 yards with the Kimber. Groups were still larger than with the P320, but I shoot that gun very well for some reason.

I carried what the Navy ordered me to, but when I retired in 2021; I went back to Revolvers. I will NEVER go back to semi auto's. 6 is all I need!

Whenever I'm out and about in the woods I have a revolver on me, occasionally along with my semi auto carry piece. And for trips to the mailbox, or out doing yardwork my sp101 or Taurus 85 is often in a pocket. I'd rather have a revolver if I have to use it.

It is funny I hardly ever go to the woods because of my health. When I do I carry a 6” Dan Wesson 10mm.

Because of the criminals one is more likely to face today I will never advocate for less ammo on tap. Now if you live out in the country far away from any urban decayed area... I could see the viability of a revolver as a primary and first choice. Don't take this the wrong way I love my revolvers and I recommend them to new shooters because they are loaded and ready to go or they are not. There's no gizmos to get in the way of operation for those not willing to spend a lot of time at the range.

I occasionally carry a j frame Smith or taurus 856. My usual carry is a sig 365 or lcp2

I'm mostly one who packs a semi-auto pistol, but I don't feel under gunned when it comes to carrying a revolver. When out on the property, walking one of the doggos on my country road, or hiking in the mountains, I'll carry a revolver (admittedly, when out in the mountains, if carrying a revolver -- typically a four-inch .357 -- I'll have a subcompact autoloader such as a SIG P-365 as a BUG).

Yeah, OP, a snub Model 66 is a great carry gun.

I must admit that my two S&W revolvers for concealed carry (Model 649 and Model 638) have not been in the mix for some time now. I have gone all in with the new wave of high capacity micro 9mm.s (SIG P365X, Glock 43X, and S&W Shield Plus). Lots more rounds on tap, quicker reloading times; all this in a very small package, made my choice an easy one to make.

This doesn't mean I don't have a use for snubbies any more as they're still a decent choice; especially if I just need something ready to go and can be easily slipped into a coat pocket. Perfect for those late night dog walking adventures!
