Hey all,
Visited a buddy of mine this weekend and he gave me a couple boxes of barnes 250 grain tsx .458 diameter projectiles because he said he had no use for them and he knows i load 45-70 frequently.
First off ive never loaded anything this light and typically never load any cartridge light for caliber. I dont really want to buy a pound of powder to use up 40 bullets but i do want to give them a whirl, checked barnes site and they only have 2 powders listed - n120 & aa1680 . Neither of which i have. Cant find any other load data for thi is projectile. Any one have a load for ANY of these powders?
Imr4831, imr4198, leverevolution, trail boss
Or even on the off chance any of the pistol powders (i know but maybe theres something)
Clays, unique, h110, 2400, titegroup
I know i could probably make some kind of mutant trailboss load but i think it would be shooting them just to shoot something. Im willing to buy a pound of powder if its something i could use with my normal projectile - 405 gr hardcast. I realize there isnt much chance in making something out of pistol powders but i figured id list what i have on hand just in case.
To be fired from a modern lever action.

Hodgdon's online database has data for 45/70 using that bullet.

I have been using the 275gr version in my 450 Bushmaster and love it.
