I just started reloading for my 22-250. I am loading 38.1 grains of CFE223 powder pushing Speer 50 grain TNT HP's with dime size 3 shot groups at 100yds with the bullet seated .084" off the lands and 35.7 grains IMR 4320 pushing Barnes 50 grain TSX HP's with dime size 3 shot groups at 100yds with the bullet seated .023" off the lands with the same point of impact. Has anyone else experienced this?
I figure this way I have a great coyote load (TNT HP) and a great hog or deer load within. 100yds load (TSX). I am not here to argue the. 22-250 on hogs/deer, I have shot a ton of hogs with white box 45 grain HP's behind the ear on the 3,000 acre ranch I hunt but have have not tried the 50 grain TSX's yet on hogs/deer; I have been sticking to the 25-06 or 7mm on deer but wouldn't be afraid to try the TSX's. Anyone tried the 50 grain TSX's with a 1-14" 22-250 on a S. Tx whitetail?
Attached is the last deer I killed, I had one similar in my crosshairs today but failed to chamber another round in my Sendero SF II after shooting a hog on the way to the stand:banghead: and the click of the firing pin scared him off; next week I won't make the same mistake.
