Alrigt I'm down to
-glock 19
- smith wesson m&p9c
- compact 1911 (in 45 acp)

The G19 seems to fit the bill for the stated need/purpose. I like what Zerodefect said about the Kahr CW9 "It's like a thin Glock 19." Which is true, but not as competitive if you intend to shoot guns games with it.

My first gun was a G19, I tried the guns games and was advised by other shooters to get a full-size gun to be more competitive. I did. But for carry I have gone in the other direction and have gone for the smallest I feel comfortable with. At the moment that's a Kahr CW9. You have a fun choice to make. And you eventually end up with more than just one handgun anyway.

best regards,

Luis Leon

Neither of these 2 on your short list will disappoint.

Which one feels better in your hand? And which seems to have a better natural point of aim?

To tell you the truth, the m&p was VERY ergonomic, but I didn't dislike the glock's

The Glock 19 is sort of like the Honda Accord: a proven workhorse for decades. That's the baseline that you want your 9mm choices to meet or exceed.

I sold mine sometime back in a fantatic trade opportunity, and I have other 9s now, but I'm not even sure that I'd vote for the 9s in my safe over a basic G19 if it was all about pragmatism. I'm sure that the M&P would pass muster as well.

JMO.

Well i have a few 9mm's my favorite would be my SIG P226 and then one of my P-series Rugers but since you said Glock thats a fine chhoice too.

My choice was the M&P 9C and I've carried for years now and shot thousands of rounds through it. It is my daily carry and my range gun. If I was to compete in IDPA or anything else my M&P 9C would be my first choice. Its is a winner.

Sig SP2022 can be has for about 440 new in box.....great 9mm
Im not a fan of any Glock or any auto without and external hammer.
Glocks are just to light IMHO plus I dont like they ergonomics of the pistol
You can find some 3rd gen S&W auto used for 300/350 bucks and they were all metal
and GREAT autos...my 4506 is about 15 years old and never a problem except with a magazine.

I think the Ruger SR9c would fit your budget and requirements; my wife loves hers. Very accurate, concealable, and relatively easy to field strip and clean.

Of your listed finalists, I'd say G19; proven design, vast quantities of accessories.

G19...one reason is (sometimes*) cheaper mags, i bought brand new g19 mags a while back for 14 or 15 bucks shipped each.....

also the 33 rounders and g17 mags fit.......

was my first gun and i knew nothing about guns,
mine felt blocky in my hand at first* and i thought maybe the mp would have been better, but then i shot it and was a dead eye with, now im in love with it

now that i know a little more about guns, Im still happy with it and would buy another one over the other choice's

Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm

I carry the 4.5" Pro Series Model.

Best gun I have ever owned.

Period.

And I have owned MANY!
