hence the LEAVE THE AREA, on the label and instructions.
hmm... that's funny, I have the same instructions on my 44.
I do carry pepper spray, but only because it looks cute and matches my boots.
Political correctness beseeches us wherever we go and we should never be afraid to protect ourselves for fear of paperwork to a bunch of California graduates. What a sad day in America when we are scared into using a product because of the liberal ramifications after the trigger is pulled. I've had my guns scare off mountain lions, bears, and hippies and that is what my hand is familiar with.
You better hope that when you pull you're precious spray that the bear or hippie is not upwind or you will find out how painful your decision really is.
I learned the hard way and I'll be darned if I have to start packing a windsock to compliment my can of pepper seasoning.
"Excuse me nice little bear, could you please stand downwind so I can take the clip off my can and spray this nasty crap in your face". "Good little bear, thank you very much".
Where I'm from the wind blows constantly, and if I were to rely on my pepper spray I would never make it back to my truck. Hiking downwind all the time could get you lost.
