I've been gone for about a year now and glad to be back. It's been a pretty rough year, had both hips replaced, an appendectomy, a heart stint and a little over 12 weeks of physical therapy to get me back on my feet. I haven't done much reloading while recovering as about the only places that were comfortable were my recliner and bed. I have only been to the range twice in past 12 months so am really chomping at the bit to get back out there now that I can walk again and hang my own targets. If I had only known what I know now I would have had my hips replaced before it got to the point I couldn't hardly walk. I had excellent surgeons for all the above and really can't thank them and all the folks at Sentara Hospital in Charlottesville, VA for the great care I received.

I've downsized my gun collection considerably and need to thin out a bunch of reloading materials. I have never shipped primers and was curious if an individual without an FFL can even ship primers (I have a full case of primers for the Swiss GP-11 brass). I know I can't ship them through the post office, but wasn't sure about FedEx or UPS. Also, I used to sell most of my surplus brass, die sets and other reloading items in the Classifieds here, but now it appears you can only sell 12 items without becoming a dealer. I tried putting some brass up on e-Bay and they removed my ad (not sure why, when I checked before listing it there were several others selling brass). Where would be a good place to sell a bunch of brass?

Glad to see you back. Been through the wringer the past couple years as well but not nearly as bad as you though.
They have changed the for sale here some but you can list a big bunch of stuff in each add, say in reloading. Just not a bunch of adds every month IIRC. Don't forget your state and to price or what specifically you might want to swap for.

Primers and propellants need to be sold locally, you can't ship them UPS or Fed EX either without a dedicated Haz Mat shipper license of your own.

Thanks! That's what I was afraid of regarding the primers. Doubt If there will be much interest locally for Russian Berdan primers but will post them on our club's bulletin board.

I may have misread the rules for posting on the classified board here, I thought I read only 12 items per year. I'll check it again. Thanks again for the info.

You don't need any sort of license to ship primers (exempted explosives) or powder (flammable solids), but you DO need a Hazmat shippers certificate and the associated training. It's entirely impractical for less than a business-level logistics operation. In practical terms, you'll have to sell the primers and powder locally.

The brass should sell quite well here or on one of the other forums, depending on caliber.

Thanks! I assume this would include primed brass?

What are you trying to sell?
You may find someone local before you mess with shipping

I’ve met folks from this site that I’ve given brass I didn’t need and bought Dies from someone else. So you never know

No interestingly enough. Primed brass can ship just like loaded ammo: UPS or Fedex ground service. You need to notify them at the counter and they'll put on the appropriate sticker.

ETA: sometimes the counter staff is ignorant, so you might want a copy of the guidelines from the shipper's website. I've needed that at least twice.
