A friend has a Belgium Browing in .380 caliber (don't know the year of mfg.) that needs a little TLC. The slide is buggered up in front where you insert the barrel bushing, but otherwise is in fine condition.

I've located a new slide for sale but it will cost around $200. Disregarding emotional attachment (his grandfather's gun), are these pistols worth restoring and do they generally function well? I have not fired this one due to the condition of the slide.

We have to decide on the slide by January 5, so your prompt input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you know the model year? (i.e. Model 1900) That might help the knowledgeable folks around here to assist you a bit more. ;)

It's very similar to a Model 1922, but has the adjustable rear sights and target grips.

I also believe it's known as a Model 10/71????
