I have a ~5 year old Savage 12FV Accutriger with 4.275" spacing and factory blued varmint barrel that I currently use for paper punching, with possible future varmint applications.

I had originally planned on replacing the factory Savage stock with a B&C Duramaxx stock, but now I'm thinking I might go to with the Medalist Tactical instead.

I'm curious if anyone here has used both stocks and thinks the Medalist is "worth" roughly double the money over the Duramaxx. I've read that both stocks are straight drop-ins for some people, many require minimal sanding/dremling & drilling a trigger guard screw hole, and a few have to do a decent amount of work to get the stock to fit their action & barrel properly.

Thanks for everyone's opinions!

I have two of the A2 tactical stocks, but not the duramaxx. I haven't come across any reviews of the duramaxx, either. The tactical stocks are nie. They are a bit heavy, so if you're going hunting they my not be ideal. Otherwise, the weight absorbs recoil and helps keep it steady when shooting from the bench or prone.

The fit on both of mine was good. One is on a Remington 700 and the other a Howa 1500. The B&C cut about 0.5MOA off my Rem 700 compared to the standard SPS stock. I ordered the Howa with the B&C so I don't know how it shot with a factory stock.

Some people will say don't bother with them and go straight to a McMillan, etc., but those are over twice the price. In my opinion, unless you use the rifle very hard, they aren't enough of an improvement over the B&C.

Here's a couple pictures of mine, both finished in green with black webbing.

The Tactical Medalist has a full length aluminum bedding block structure, worth the extra coin if you can't add pillars and bed the Duramax yourself.

I did have to do some finish inletting, float the rear tang on my Tactical Medalist, but was minimal.

I have 4 B&C stocks, 2 Medalist stocks, and 2 Tactical stocks. The B&Cs are great, and so I stick with them. In fact, I just purchased the latest B&C Medalist stock two days ago for a Weatherby Mark V .300 Win Mag. The fit and finish, is excellent. JMHO.

i have the medalist on a savage 10fp and it is great. It wont flex with a bipod ( you need an adapter because its a flat bottom) like the factory stock and i like the way the grip lines my finger up with the trigger.

I put a Duramax on my Savage Model 10FP,and in retrospect I wish I had paid the extra money and got the Medalist. The Duramax has cosiderable flex in the foreend, and required lots of sanding to achieve a free floated barrel.
