Hello all,
I am going to be bringing home a brand spankin' new Savage 10FP .308 on Tuesday, and I was thinking about what replacement stock to put on it. I had a 110 in .30-06 with a Choate Ultimate Sniper that I liked, but I think I want a more conventional stock on the new rifle. I came across these Bell and Carlson Duramaxx stocks and I thought they looked good and were at a reasonable price. I was wondering if any of you had one on your rifle(s), and how you are pleased with the stock. Is it enough of an improvement over the factory stock to justify spending the $100 on?
Thanks in advance.

Nic: Yes, I have one on my Savage 10FP in .308 and yes, I think it is a much better stock than the factory junk stock. It 's looks are good and it is much stiffer. My only beef is that mine was not "straight" (i.e.- was molded a bit off center). As a result, the barrel contacts the stock all the way down the right side. I am going to have to sand/file off material so that it is "free-floating". Other than that, it is definitely worth the money. I would have liked a more expensive stock but couldn't justify the extra money on a relatively inexpensive rifle. Besides, the H-S Precision stock on my new Rem 700VS is off-center, too, although it is free-floating. :uhoh:

Thanks, Prof. Found 'em for $89.95 at a couple of sites online, so I think I'm gonna order the black one with gray web pattern. Looks pretty spiffy.
Thanks for the input.

I have to agree with Prof, I have one also and it's not straight either - touches on the right side - called Bell and Carlson and they told me to sand down the left side where the chamber and barrel "connector" is.

Then again - it was touching the right side in the cheap plastic one - so maybe it is the rifle.....

I do like the stock - it's the same as you're looking at - black web. You'll like it.

As soon as I get the barrel straight in the barrel channel I'll try and see if it effects the accuracy.....

So what they are saying, I guess, is that if there isn't enough clearance at the barrel nut on the left side of the stock it is shoving the barrel to the right. That sounds pretty easy to fix. I bought the SSS varmint tactical for one of my savages and it contacted on the right side too. I just wrapped some sandpaper around a large socket and sanded until it had enough clearance. I love that SSS stock but will try a B&C Duramax on my other savage for comparisson. The forend on the SSS is massive and the B&C looks more atuned to carrying and hunting. Thanks for your posts guys!

ps. My gal 'discouraged' my getting the realtree cammo though. Darn! Black is fine, I guess...

I've got two of thee older ones and think they are the best buy on stocks.

I'm also with your gal on the color - basic black is always in style. :D

I just got my Bell and Carlson Duramaxx in Natural Gear, my Savage 12FV in .243 is having a little minor work done on the internal magazine but should be back in a week or two. I will put up a little before and after range report soon so standby.

Hey all. Ordered a B&C Duramaxx stock yesterday. According to UPS tracking it should be here on Wednesday, the day after I pick up my rifle. I can't wait. I'll post pics as soon as possible.
Thanks for the input, and have a safe and happy 4th!

Duramaxx

I got my Duramaxx(black) from Cabela's for $89.99 + $8.95 shipping. It's a nice and sturdy stock. I didn't have any trouble fitting everything together. The instructions tell you to sand here or file there if things don't fit right. There might be better stocks out there, but just like a Savage rifle, for the money they can't be beat. Just one man's opinion.

Mine is black, and it's textured. I'm assuming the "Black Web" design is similarly textured. Pretty nice stock, really.

I bought a Duramaxx for my Savage 11FC. I really like it. Very sturdy and rigid. Mine is the Blue/Gray with Balck Webbing, very spiffy. I actually modified my stock to work with the detachable mag. Cut a rectangle out of the bottom of the stock for the mag and countersunk a whole in the side for the mag release buttom. It gives me better cheek weld with my scope, since the factory stock is designed for use with iron sights. I highly recommend them.
