BLUF: Can you mold the grip of an 1860 Colt into an Eagle Head style grip by rounding off the back end?

I'm looking at picking up a longer term project to stop myself from spending money. I figured buying a new Colt 1860 and turning it into a snub nose/belly gun would be a (relatively) cheaper project to keep me busy. I have a Remington New Army and I've seen videos converting those into snub nose guns but I've never seen work done for the Colt grip. There are tons of shortened barrels but not many Eagle Head style grips that aren't store manufactured.

I have two repro revolvers I bought back in the 1970s and I have had their grips off in maintenance over the years.
Copy of Colt 1851 and Remington 1858. Currently in deep storage.
As I recall there was not enough metal free to be removed to make a proper bird's head out of either one's grips.

Would it be possible to bend or reshape the metal to fit the correct shape? Or am I really trying to hit above my weight class with this type of project?
