Colt 1851 vs 1860

Well, I own a couple of 1851s, a couple of 1860s, an 1861, a couple of Remingtons, an 1862 NP, and an ROA. Gee, they are all fun and each has its virtues. That guy who wrote that you should go and find a stocking dealer and see what you like is spot on, I think. I really would not know how to choose between them, especially if I didn't have them in hand.

Many have commented that one ought to have the particular gun in hand to examine the timing, fit, and finish before purchasing and I'll agree wholeheartedly. More than one of the guns that I bought on line had to be taken to my local 'smith for fitting and tuning before they were really satisfactory, so caveat emptor.
