I thought the FS also had the "update" to keep the slide from seperating with the frame and bashing the face of the operator?

Yes. See the two posts immediately prior to yours.

Oro, please don't quote me on something I didn't say. The quote was from danbrew.

Sorry about that; fixed it. This forum is a little low-tech on auto-attributing quotes and I fumbled on the cut-and-paste. But my point was the same in my response; I hope that link to the firearms grading explanations/tutorial was helpful.

I got my 92FS stainless for a very hard to beat price. It was a Christmas gift from my Dad last year. From the serial I've determine it was made in '94. It was my Uncle's duty gun when he was a police officer in Atlanta. He bought it new, put maybe 300 rounds through it, carried it for two years, then everyone switched to Glocks and it set in his closet for about 12 years.
He just wanted to get rid of it, and sold it to my Dad for $300.
I never really liked the 92...until I got to use one my friend has, and I fell in love with it's craftsmanship, ease of use, acceptable accuracy, and the grip just seems to fit my big hands very well. I don't want to say I pestered him, but I kept asking my Dad how much he'd sell it to me for, he eventually just decided to give it to me.
I did the Wolff INS trigger spring upgrade, and clipped three coils off the mainspring, all of which substantially helped the double action pull. When I get home from work today I'm installing Hogue Overmold wraparound finger-groove grips and loading 300 rounds or so, all in time for the Fourth of July!

Now, if I could just get the same great deal on that .38 Colt Chiefs Special he has...

Mid $300 is the going price around here (Seattle) for a 92 blued in good to excellent conditions.

Some people seems to find them too big compared to the cartridge fired (9x19)

An used 96 in 40 S&W, on average, command $100-150 more, it seems to be more popular.
