I was searching the forum on this topic, and read (for instance) cslinger's range report on the 92A1

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=593714&highlight=beretta+92A1+grips

My question really has to do with grips for the 92A1.

I have the gun. It feels really big. But with our Glock 19, my finger seems to be too long for the trigger (on the Glock) whereas it feels just right on the Beretta.

Yet, grip-wise, I seem to have a better hold on the Glock.

I keep reading so many people on THR that say they have small hands, so I am wondering, surely there can't be THAT many handgun owners with small hands? My hands are not small but not honking huge either like those I see on some of our servicemen (the 92 looks just right for them, it seems). I do have long fingers though, which may be why I find the Glock trigger a little too close (past the knuckle crease, and I am using the medium size backstrap).

I was thinking to get thinner grips on the 92A1. I read that the wood grips (which look AWESOME and Beretta was sold out on them for a while) actually make it thicker, so those are out of the question.

There was a company (forget the name) that supposedly made thinner leather grips for the guns, but I am not sure how well those perform. I was also wondering about rubber grips, maybe those might help (or not).

Any advice?

Thanks.

So, it's the TJ 92?

Give the best to your Beretta 92

TJ 92 is the thinnest and best grip
ever made for your BERETTA 92
.260 in. less in the middle (6 mm)
Original thick grip: 1.40 in. - TJ 92: 1.14 in.
Really a new feeling in your hand
The slimness of TJ 92 is better
for small and women hand.

Increase your accuracy and handling

Molded black polycarbonate/fibreglass.
Fit: 92-92F-92FS-M9-G1-92A1-96A1 series
and similar frames.

Anyone have this and feel a marked difference?

Do I need anything else other than a screwdriver?

Thanks.

I searched high and low for thinner grips for the Beretta. I also came across the Trausch grips, and although I've read some good things about them, I just could not get behind the looks.

I ended up ordering some standard checkered Alumagrips. They are just the slightest bit thinner than the stock plastic grip panels. But I think the biggest difference is that they have a much more gradual taper to the edge, allowing your hand to really wrap around them, making them feel much thinner than the stock grips. They kind of make the grip shape more oval and less 2x4. I ordered the olive gray grips, but they are much more gray in real life than the picture on Alumagrip's website (which shows them looking very OD green). If I had to do it again, I might order the plain black.

The added bonus of the checkered Alumagrips is that they are VERY sharply textured, and provide extreme grip. You could sand wood with these things!

I would go with the Trausch Grips.

They are ugly, but I have a set on my personal 92FS, and I keep a spare set to put on whatever M9 that Uncle Sam gives me. The two minutes it takes to swap grips make a world of difference.

I recommended them to everybody in my unit that complained about the M9 grip size.
