beretta cougar question about serial numbers

just bought a nib 9mm beretta cougar off GB and just noticed that the serial number on the right side of the frame and the number on the barrel dont match is this normal if so then which number is the serial number and what is the other one also why isnt there a serial number on the slide also

That isn't normal. They should all match. My bet is that someone changed out the barrel.

There should be a number on the slide too. Mine has one.

The number on the frame is the one that counts.

cause i was just now looking on GB and all the one i could see have no slide numbers and the numbers on the barrel and frame dont match either and there was atleast 4 pistols like this on there

...in pic #5 you can see the serial number on the slide just above the lettering.


EDIT2: I misread you. I saw Cougar and assumed Stoeger. You said Beretta. I think there may not be a serial number on the slide in that case. At any rate, the barrel and frame should match I would expect.
