Best 148 Gr HBWC for .38/.357 Mag Target loads?

I've been shooting Speer for many years, never had reason to complain.

The "best" (no such thing) are those I can find to buy at a decent price.

Kevin, the best would be the most accurate, consistent weights,...there may even be coated HBWC(s) out there.

Besides Speer and Hornady, I haven't seen any from Missouri or SNS. What other options are out there?

I'm seeing if these outshoot 158 Gr LSWC(s).

I appreciate your post too TimSr...I had no idea plated HBWC(s) were out there.

I have shot both HBWC bullets and if one shoots better than the other I can't tell. I also shoot DEWC bullets and they are also very accurate for me. I would buy quality at the best price I can find. I'm currently shooting DEWC bullets from Missouri bullets and MasterCast Bullets in Il.

Why? They would probably be no better than most others on the market but they would cost more because they are Speer.

Why?

Speer called the 4605 a bevel base WC, it performs well at target velocities but can loaded to higher pressures compared to a HBWC. I still carry the Speer 4605 in a S&W 36 with 3.5gr of Bullseye.

IN testing involving 10M rounds of 38SPL WC loads the Speer BBWC and HBWC stood out, as did the fugly R-P dirty ol' 38cal 148gr HBWC, which was outstanding.
And so it goes...

Factory made are too expensive. Lots of HBWC's and DEWC's around though. Swaged are better though.

The hornadys have been the best for me between the speer and the magtech and the precision delta ones that I have tried.

I have some of those "fugly" old dirty Rem 148 HBWC bullets under my bench

One reason they shoot so well for some folks is because they are oversized, .360 IIRC. I use them exclusively for 38S&W loads.
