Best .22 Ammo

Do you have the Weaver rimfire 3-9x AO on it? I have that scope on a couple of my 22's. I like that scope a lot.

I wish the Weaver had the AO on it, but sadly no; it's the standard 3x9x40. The scope is very clear and bright (which I expect from Weaver - even the new ones).

I won't replace the barrel, as part of the attraction of this rifle for me is that Mayfield, Kentucky logo on the factory barrel. :)

I consider CCI Standard velocity a gold standard starting point.
If it won't group this stuff well, it likely won't group more expensive options any better.

I'm no expert, but that was my first thought also.

The best accuracy I have gotten in a Mossy M44US was with Wolf Match. I haven't tried other "premium" stuff in it though, (like Eley match, Lapua Midas etc).

It surpassed my expectations.

Buy several types of ammo, a rim gauge, and a scale. You'll never loose.

Good luck, Clint

How many Olympic records has Wolf set? Did Wolf even make into the top ten at the last Olympics? Eley RWS and Lapua have all won Olympic medals and set world records.
The Eley ammo used in olympic competition is customized to the rifle, off the shelf ammo. You'll NEVER find the exact same thing on the shelf except in name only.

Customized .22lr ammunition? I know of match ammo and match chambers, but not customized .22lr ammunition.

For normal people that just want to shoot, and accurately, the Wolf Match is probably the way to go. At our local range, they hold .22 matches and the rule is that everyone has to shoot Wolf Match, to keep it even for those that can't afford $20 a box .22 ammo. All of the rifles shoot the Wolf very well.

Even my 10/22 shoots it really well. It just has that funky lube coating on it that makes it hard to load mags and it's really funny watching the bullet arc to the target at 100 yards through the scope. It almost looks like I could run faster.

You might also try some Fed. 714 from Dicks ( supposedly the GMM rejects, only at Dicks) and Fed. 510 shoots great in my 10/22 ( custom barrel, trigger ) as a matter of fact they both shoot so flippin' well, that I don't feel the need to find something better.

Correct. Now explain Lapua.

If you have the cash and wish to spend it then yes Eley will make custom ammo for your rifle, of course they have to have the rifle in hand to do this.

Ok, Think of it like the ultimate marketing event. The Olympics that is. You're a major ammo manufacturer. You want your people to win so you can use that win to push your products.

You assembly your shooters and modify an existing commercial ammo line to fit their and their firearms, needs, wants and requirements. Your team members turn in first place showings. Now that xyz ammo brand is the winner in the eyes of the shooting world, both amature and professional. retail sales of XYZ brand ammo shoot through the roof and all you investment is some customized ammo shot by an Olympic shooter.

Think NASCAR eligible body types. a minimum number have to be made available to the public, but nor necessarilly have to be affordable to the public.
