It occurred to me that the 6-shot snub guns I have or recommend for CCW are no longer being made.

The current snubs aimed (ha! I kill me!) at the CCW market are 5-shooters.

I didn't realize Colt DS parts were getting difficult to find and the 2" K-frame Model 12 is out of production.

The Ruger 6-shooters are all steel and many find them too big and heavy for routine CCW

I know Rossi makes a few all steel snubs, but what else is there? What lightweight 6-shot snubs are currently being made that fill the bill? Any personal experience with it?

So I noticed too...

I personally solve this problem by shopping in the used gun market that has a lot to offer along these lines.

About the only manufacturer I know of that might still offer what you are looking for is Taurus.

S&W still had a .327 listed last I looked, but it's the goofy 3" ported version. Since you didnt specify....22 acceptable?

Chiappa Rhino would be my choice. 6rds and little to no recoil with heavy way over factory reloaded.

For me, it is the Ruger Alaskan in 44 Magnum. But, that's probably not what you wanted to hear.

I absolutely hated the S&W Model 19 with 2 1/2" barrel. I hated the S&W Model 442 even more.

The S&W Model 686+ with 2 1/2" or 3" barrel is probably the way to go if you can get past its disabilities. It's a little chunky, but a good holster will take care of that. I would recommend a Ruger GP100 with 3" barrel (Wiley Clapp) over the 686, but getting shorter stocks that are satisfactory is difficult.

S&W 632 in 327 Federal. I get 1345 FPS out of mine with the 115gr Gold Dots. To put that in prospective, I get that same velocity with the 115 gr 9mm Corbon loads out of my Glock 17. The S&W 632 is basically 6 shot 9mm revolver that they got to fit into a J frame by repackaging the 115 gr bullet into a package that is 0.043" in diameter smaller. I can promise you that the target won't be able to tell the difference.

Possibly the Judge and the Governor, if you don't mind the long cylinder length.

The Judge I know is 5 shot. It also can have a 2 1/2" cylinder, which of course is still "long". The Governor is bigger, 3" cylinder only, a complete caricature.

The only ones I know of are the Armscor 206 and the Charter Arms Police Undercover.

Both are 6-shot .38spl budget snubbies that are the size of a Detective Special.

The Armscor goes for about $200-$250, and the Charter goes for $340-$365.

Not trying to throw out only low buck options. I just don't know of any other relatively small 6-shot snubs out there.

The Charter Undercover .38 is a 5-shot.

I realize that many options exist in a lightweight 5-shot revolver, but dang few in a 6-shot lightweight version. Large, heavy 6-shot revolvers abound, but those aren't the answer to the question.

I didn't put caliber restrictions in place, so let's just say if YOU were comfortable with the gun and caliber for CCW, then go ahead and mention it.

If you don't mind the .327 Fed mag round, the Ruger SP101 in that caliber is real nice. Six shots and you can shoot .32ACP, .32 Short, .32 Long and .32 H&R magnum as well.
I'm curious how you can shoot a rimless .32 acp in a revolver chambered in .327 mag....

Yep, the 632 Pro. They do not make it anymore. I love mine, I handload for it and can get some wicked velocities out of it. Pretty much duplicate the factory 115 loads.

This one, not the ported longer barrel one.

No it's not current, but there I no current ones I would buy. Stick with a 5 shot SW or Ruger

S&W make the 686 Plus in 2.5 inch (7 shot med. frame .357). Supposedly it hides fairly well with combat grips and is a good shooter with warm .357 loads.

It's a bit on the heavy side though.

I've got a 1 7/8th" 64 and a 6" 686 plus, I'm real tempted to replace the 64 with another 686 plus, but I'd really like to shoot one first. I might be first in line if they make an lightweight version however
