My first 9mm 1911 was a Rock Island GI, came across one at a gun show NIB and got it cheap with a cash offer. not super accurate but it was a GI, not a TAC II. Cheap fun. Only ran Checkmate mags cause they were cheapest and they worked.
Recently bought my first Kimber, a 9mm Stainless II. Haven't tried any hollow points or SD rounds but seems to group 124 gr NATO the best. No malfunctions using factory mags, Mec Gars, Metalforms, Chips or Wilsons.
Been pleasantly surprised with the Kimber, expected a fussy break in period and it's been flawless from round one, although she does not group Blazer brass 115gr. well, which has always been my go to for cheap range ammo.
