Suggestions wanted on the best ballistic app out there!

First time smartphone / tablet owner, and am looking for first hand users of various apps.

I've got the Nikon Spot-On app as I have a few Nikon scopes, but am looking at bigger / better apps.

Being able to use 22 instead of centerfire only would be a big plus.

On Android I use the paid Strelok Pro version. Works well for me, although I'm by no means a sub-MOA long distance shooter.

i have most of them, including crazy stuff like Field Firing Solutions on the nomad. shooter on iphone is the easiest to use so far, though i like shooter on android less. you definitely get decent data out of it if you put decent data into it.

however, i'm really looking forward to trying the Applied Ballistics stuff when I can get the custom curves. I'll run it on a kestrel though, instead of my iphone.

not sure what you mean by using 22. you're looking for ballistics on 22LR?

if this is your first time using a smartphone, I'd suggest a few other apps that are often useful when shooting or hunting, etc
-surefire has a really cool shot timer
-there are some handy apps for converting mil/moa and doing reticle based ranging
-there's some great mapping software out there for trails, topos, etc beyond stuff like google maps that require an internet connection
-lots of good references for things like tying knots (knots 3d) and survivalist stuff and medical apps

If you are on iOS then may I be so bold as to recommend one of my apps.
Gun Log and Gun Log SPC are range logs that also keep track of inventory. Ballistics GL is a simple external ballistics calculator that I wrote.

I have a few other apps I use for cross reference.
Shooter
Bullet Drop
Most all of the free ballistic calculators

My bad...should have stated I'm using Android phones / tablets.

Thanks for the suggestions - I installed the free Strelok - pretty nice, but I can't find a way to save settings for various combos. I'd like to be able to load data for a few rifles for quick retrieval, especially the scope info, bullet coefficient, etc. Maybe that's in the PRO version - still doing research - I may well buy the PRO version based on what I see in the free version.

No Surefire timer for Android, so I just grabbed the most highly rated one I could find at the Google Play Store.

I'm an old minute of man shooter - had nothing but those EBR's until about a year ago when I bought a number of Savage bolt action rifles (.22 and 17 HMR) with purty thumbhole stocks (trying to put a little color in my gun life!).
Got Nikon scopes on the Savages - one with the BDC reticle, one with the NikoPlex.

I've played around with various ballistics software in the past (Remington SHOOT and PointBlank) - pretty much using them as a learning tool, as I'm no precision shooter, but I may ease into it with my Savage rimfires?

I use an app called Bullet Drop +. It works well and is easy to use with a lot of variables you can change. I have never compared it to the Sierra or any other one to check it's accuracy though. I started with just the Bullet Drop app which was the free version and liked it so I bought the + version.

It's all fun.

I use Hornady also. I really don't see a need to put anything like that on my phone. You can do a cheat sheet from that program, tape it to your rifle stock and go to the range. If you have your load worked up laminate the the cheat sheet and put it in your pocket.

Snipers don't use smart phone apps, at least not in combat.

Actually the good ones have PDAs with ballistic apps on them

After playing around with the free Strelok, I went ahead an bought the PRO version - not sure that I needed it for my purpose (not getting into it that deep?). I probably should have played with the free version a bit more, but I don't mind supporting someone that's doing good work.

I dragged the tablet out to the gun shop today and picked the brain of the bench rest shooters AFA terms, filling in certain parameters, etc.

Still learning / experimenting...

Shooter.

It is incredibly easy to use. Will import atmospheric data and GPS info. Can Bluetooth pair to a Kestrel. Has continually updated Litz verified Bullet data.
Will compensate for spin drift and Coriolis effect.
In short it has everything you need and more
My come ups generated with it have given me 1st round hits at 1000yds +

BTW, it cost $10 at the Ap store-worth every penny!

PPS: used Strelok briefly, it sucks! Drop data was way off!

Use streloc pro & once you find all it has it is a first round ringer to 849 yrds .that is all the pasture I have to check it out .
On first page touch rifle then at top of new page touch change rifle it will store what you just finished & let you enter a new rifle , or choose one you already stored.
When you touch reticle go to settings & Chang the target to any animal or paper target you choose.tons of other variable stuff & an email to the author will get you what you don't have

Been playing / learning Strelok Pro - found out how you store different combos, and have uploaded data to the cloud in order to import to all my other devices.

Thought it was missing a scope (TA01 ACOG) and e-mailed the author - I found it before he got back in touch with me, but he did reply quickly!

I was using an O instead of zero when searching his database for the TA01 - some Trijicon scopes were showing up in his database when I used the O, but not the ACOG - apparently some of the Trijicon models use an O in the model, since only about 4 or 5 models showed up when using TAO (first three letters in model) - when I tried TA0, many more models showed up.

Going to have to e-mail him again - I have an old OEM Colt 3x20 scope (mounted on the carrying handle of an old SP1) which I can't find in his database.

I've been pretty impressed with his software so far (and the author).

Surprised no one mentioned this program. Anyone using it who can testify of its accuracy?
JBM got me interested, but apparently not available for Android.

I got a newsletter from some vendor that had an ad for JBM, but when I checked it out, it was around $19 (if memory serves), and iPhones only.

Didn't really want to pay that kind of money, but I didn't plan on paying $12.40 for Strelok Pro either!
