Best ever for “junk” brands

I would not call Hi Point junk (at least their carbines) or all of the Taurus and Kel-Tec guns junk either. Everyone that I own or have owned in the pst have all worked. The Taurus 24/7 only got sold because I could not stand the mile long trigger pull. It was accurate and always functioned for me. I have two Taurus revolvers that are good to go. All fo the Kel-Tec guns have been good to go for me. I have a P3AT, PF9, PMR30, CMR30, and CP33. The PMR, CMR, and CP33 are just down right fun to shoot and accurate to boot. And what is not to like about having a 30 or 33 round magazine in a light weight package. The Hi Point 40S&W carbine I own is the same, accurate and functions great.

Hi Point Kel-Tec and Taurus firearms are not everyone's cup of tea, that is Okay. I also catch crap for my Rock Island Armory 1911's too. They all work as they should. I have no experience with Hi Point pistols so can't say much about them. Their carbines, while FUGLY, just flat out work.

I would say the Bryson, Cobray, Jennings, Rg and some of the FIE guns were/are total junk
I had a PF9 and P11. I currently have a couple of their bullpubs and a Sub2k. You also have to keep in mind that Ruger basically stole their design (P3at) with their extremely popular LCP. Kel Tec seems to be the most innovative company that exist right now with very popular and sort after rifles at lest... But... I guess because they aren't pretty and are affordably priced they're considered junk by some.

Taurus pistols are a hot seller too now, and are generally very reliable. I'd consider all their polymer pistol pre 2012 junk however.

Been a good while now but first thing that comes to me is the open bolt pistols that were made by RPB, and the guy who later stared Kel-Tec. They were cheap to make, sold cheap and were impossible to use. Everyone I ever saw someone buy, often after being warned by me not to, could not hit anything with them unless it was an accident. That heavy bolt falling, with no shoulder stock, made the shooter miss anything they were trying to aim at. The only thing they were good for was after the Feds forced then to stop making them many made a killing selling them to people who just had to have one

I’ll say Taurus. I hear they are junk.
The two I own are fine. A 1911 that feeds empty cases from four different Mecgar mags and a 92 that allows me to hit a gallon milk jug at seventy five yards.

I love them. But I’m sure making three million G2s a year, a few may suck. Somehow Kimber gets away with it, but an affordable entry level gun? Just junk.;)

With this new run on firearms, do you think we will see a bunch of old clunkers filter out of the sock drawer?

I have long thought Taurus suffers from so many made. Over the years I have had quite a few of their guns, both wheel guns and autos. None of them were top shelf but they just worked. One little .22 Wife bought took some tinkering with the mags to get it running but it did. Trigger was horrible but, for what it cost I did not expect much. Now I have "heard" the customer service if you have to send something back can be a dumpster fire but, I have never had to send anything back yet. I have long thought its that they sell a hell of a lot of guns, cheap. So of course there is going to be some lemons make it out the door. This of course does not make the people who get a problem feel better and if it takes months to get it fixed they of course are the people who are going to make the most noise.

I think they're a victim of their past decades long problems quality control issues that no longer exist. Taurus outsells a lot of of other mainstream firearm companies. They import more than twice as many handguns than Springfield and Sig, three times as many as CZ and Beretta. They are the second largest importer of small arms into the U.S. behind Glock. With that said, no one who calls their pistols junk can honestly say that they're hearing or seeing a plethora of forum, YouTube, and social media reports of issue in any significant numbers in relation to the the amount of firearms they sell every year in the U.S.... Over the last 8 or so years since the G2 came out, they had to have sold hundreds of millions of firearms, yet overwhelming, the customer reviews are good... Much better than Sig...I just think some people are stuck in the past, and others get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside from trolling Taurus and anyone who buys a budget priced pistol.

Wait people field strip them.
lol..

to be honest, as someone else said, it's better that have a high point, then nothing at all, when all else is sold out.

however, i am trying my best, to buy mid-priced guns over the cheaper ones, although, i had recently bought an under $300 Taurus G3c, which as of now, it runs great.

but given what seemed like a complex way to field strip the high point, i'd personally pass on that one.

My local gun store wants everyone to have a gun so they sell lots of Jiminez pistols at very cheap prices. They say that if the gun does not work or breaks, the factory is good about replacing.

I have only been shooting for about five years at a casual, outdoor rural range. I am no expert. But I have seen three people with Jiminez pistols that jammed a lot, and two of those people had parts break. Only other gun I have ever seen break on the range was a Hi Point that had the ejector ( I think ) bend.

So for me, Jiminez would be a pistol I would not buy or even take for free. I know I am judging on a limited number of pieces, but can't have confidence given what I have seen. YMMV

I have the 9mm carbine and it's been a solid shooter. Ugly as the bottom of your foot but goes bang every time and is reasonably accurate. Another junk brand I have had good luck with is the Heritage SA .22 pistols and Phoenix auto .22's.

Hi-Point fits the bill. Pistols and carbines. Cheap, ugly, ergonomically challenged with quite heavy triggers. Yet, both pistols and carbines have a reputation for being quite functional and immune to a lot of damage. They are certainly value for money. But did I mention ugly?

I have a 45acp carbine and I love it, but not for its looks, horrid plastic, or aesthetics. It works well and I paid $125 for it. What's not to love?

How can y'all call RG junk?;)

I have a RG that's over 40yrs old. Bought around 1978.

It used to misfire about 1 per cylinder until a screwed the firing pin assy in all the way and now it's 100%.

Sure, it shaves a little lead but I think that now after I cleaned it after 30+ yrs I think that go away too.

I was going turn it in to a gun buy back but it was mom's and it still works so I'm not giving it to the govt.

years ago I owned a Raven .25acp. I couldn't get it to jam. I fired it with a loose grip, upside down, hardly ever cleaned it, even used aluminum case ammo that split down the side after fired.....

Jimenez Arms filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy in February 2020.

so i'd say that anyone hoping for replacement parts or warranty service is outta luck

Blasphemy! Parish the thought!:cuss: Now take it out and enjoy it. Right this minute!

Thinking of the good times as you do so.;)

The funny part, to me, is that I think she only fired 2 rounds in front of me in what some could consider unsafe manner.

Her comment at the time was that it should scare off anyone. That was probably he only time she shot it.

Today she has a 327 lcr and shoots I think the 32fm (not regularly). She says it's not loud enough to scare off the coyotes. The box of 327s the dealer gave with purchase sit in a drawer after shooting a few rounds. She said she now understands why I suggested it with it being able to accept the variety of ammo.

She's in east TX, hence my location in the avatar.

Yeah, but aren't they one of those brands that keeps doing that?
They make cheap guns, file for bankruptcy or otherwise go out of business, and pop back up making the same designs under a different name.
Might still cause issues with warranties, but I know of at least a couple other brands with that MO.

Anyway, to follow the thread, I've got a Taurus M85 that has been flawless in its own right. I ruined a couple firing pin springs dry-firing, but you're not supposed to do that anyway.
Had no trouble getting a replacement the first time, and right now it has a clipped Bic spring in it.
A friend owned a couple Tauruses (Taurii?) that have worked as well as the guns they were copies of, so far.

People like to hate Keltec, but all of mine have gone BANG properly. That isn't to say there are problem guns that have gotten out, but I love buying them from disgruntled owners and sending them in for a "spa" visit. They come back fluffed and buffed and running perfectly.

Bought a Keltec P3AT used and had a few problems with extraction. They happily sent parts for free and when these didn't fix the issue we returned the gun to the factory. They returned it with a list of replaced parts and from that list it looks like the rebuilt the little gun. Worked great ever since. Not too shabby on a used purchase.

Clerke by a wide margin

Then rg

Then the ring of fire companies.

Most companies made some junk. Those made far more percentage of junk.

Yep- My PMR-30 is awesome. 3% fail to fire over 1000's of rounds. That's the nature of rimfire ammo.
Love my Taurus Judge as well. Don't shoot it much, but am confident it will show up if pressed into mean service.
NA Arms put out some real jewels when they first introduced the micro revolver. Painfully put two full cylinders through the one I owned. Then introduced it to a hot wrench to make sure no one else ever encountered that dangerous SOB.

The Ingram guns were OK; I have a SxS .45/.410 pistol, it pops open when I shoot .410's in it. I load down .45 LC's to shoot in it; it gets out to the range maybe every other year;

I always thought these with over under barrels in .410 made okay sense for a biker boot or car seat. I know Bond Arms makes one with long barrels but that's real money. We need a cheap version that doesn't explode in your hand or cost $700.

Bryco-Jennings. .22s seemed to be ok, but 380 and 9mm developed frame cracks around the bbl
