Best grouping You've Ever Had

100 yards, Ruger 10/22, CCI 40 grain High Velocity, 10 round group .42", shooting prone from bench off bags.

Best shooting rifle is my Walther KKJ Sporter. She will group all day long under one inch at 50yds. She is boringly accurate. At 100yds as long as the wind cooperates she can keep all shots 1-1/2". I like to shoot animal crackers with her at that range.

I had a Rem. 788 in 22-250 years ago that was absolutely in love with almost any load using IMR-4064 and decent bullets. The best was five shots at 100 yards on a windy day into .188". Still wondering why I sold it, maybe I just got bored with it.

My latest favorite is a 1964 Marlin 30-30, I got a 3-shot one-holer about two weeks ago with the Papajohn Load, 30.2 grains of 4895 and a 150-Rem. Core-Lokt. IMG_0024.gif

It won't do this every time, but at 50 yards most groups look like this. Makes the bolt gunners focus, nobody wants to be whooped by a lowly levergun! :neener:

Papajohn

1965, Basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. With an M-14 if you made a three shot group that all three shots touched you got awarded a Ballantine. A Ballantine was three interlocking circles made out of aluminum, the logo for Bllantine Ale, which had the words "Purity", "Body" and "Flavor" on the circles. We were allowed to pin the Ballantine on our shirt pockets of our fatigues for the duration of basic training. I still have mine.

Here are a couple. I got all 5 in on the .186 group :D , but left one hanging out on the .398 group. :banghead:
I don't remember if the .186 is my smallest, but I'll take it any day. :)

Suhl 150 22lr original barrel

Here's a group at 25yds. It measured .021ctc.

And to those that say I missed the center, here ya go. I believe this group is smaller than what I have wrote.

Here's the gun with the original factory Suhl barrel.

Here's what the gun looks like now with the new Benchmark 6 groove 16.5" twist barrel and new McMillan Edge stock custom painted.

And here's how the Benchmark barrel shoots at 50yds. My best is the 1st group on the left.

Here's a few more good ones.

My best is 59 shots (out of 60) into a 4" circle at 300 meters during compitition (recorded). I can't post pictures because the targets are electronic so there is no paper to photograph. I suppose that I could have taken pictures of the computer screen.... hummmmmm?!

I shoot 300m F-Class compitition using a Savage Model 12 Long Range Precision Varminter in .22-250 with a 1:12 twist. I load 53gr Sierra Match Kings in "nny" (Wolf) brass that has been wt. sorted, neck-sized, flash-hole reamed, primer pocket cleaned, trimmed, neck chamfered/reamed (but not turned); CCI BR-2 primers and 33.3gr of Varget go-juice for a muzzle vel. of just over 3400 fps. This works great in very mild wind or calm days. For 10-15 mph cross-breezes I switch to 69gr Match Kings. Anything over 15 mph and I lose to the dudes shooting 6mm 90gr - 105gr missles.

I used to look thru a Tasco (newer style- not Japan) but switched to a Weaver Grand Slam for it's finer cross-hair and 1/4 dot. Slight improvement in accuracy - I think - but I'll be mounting one of the new Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30x50 offerings as soon as my supplier gets one in stock.
