Best looking folder.

While my pick is nothing special, I think it is as cute as a bug in a rug. I say that because when I drop my yellow handled mini-griptillion on the rug or anywhere else at night I can see it to pick it up.

I was fairly enamored with the Benchmade 525, from an aesthetic perspective. Never sprung for one, and it's discontinued now. Oh well. Can't say it probably would have done anything better than my Delica4.

I almost never carry one, but I have several Trappers and Mini-Trappers made by various makers. To my eye that design makes the best looking folders.

I generally actually carry either a Mini-Griptillian or Spyderco Delica. I think them more useful and practical. But not as good looking.

Here is another folder that I use.

This one also has a serrated blade that I like.

It's a 'Winchester' by Coleman/Western with 4" blades, one serrated.

You're offering a blood-spattered cheap knife as an example of a "best looking folder"? Is this entire thread a troll?

That Western #954 folding knife is a good one. I have had mine for a long time.

A search shows its not sold new now.

Here are pictures of one for sale on the net.

It's truly interesting what people find worth investing in. Some folks have quality classic rifles and shoot ultra premium ammunition...but carry third-rate knives. Others carry duty quality sidearms and firstrate knives. <shrug>

Lots of great patterns, with as many nice stock materials. I'm a fool for a canoe, toothpick, or folding hunter, especially with silver bolsters and a light colored stock set...even more so if it's pearl. My taste in knives is such that I don't have many that I actually like. I do have a Buck canoe, and a Schrade toothpick with stainless bolsters and faux pearl stocks. Still looking for a purty folding hunter, might have to get bright red or blue though so I find it in the squirrel woods because I WILL drop it because I use my knives.

I've got $10 knives and $400 knives, and the more expensive the more time that was put into looks, I believe. Benchmades are great lookers, Striders are eye-candy for me but no $10 folder or anything sold at Wal-Mart is going to get that distinction from me.

hso,

that Klaas $25 knife sort of blew my skirts up so I googled for one.

Great little blurb about the family making knives in Solingen since 1837 for seven generations.......and then the words "Made in China".

Now I have to wonder if I can trust it not to be toxic never mind quality steel.

Still it does look very nice....... and is only a quarter of a C note.

A Tractor Supply yesterday all the American brand name knives that were not under glass were also marked Made in China.

Absolutely true.

For me today, I've got my Kahr TP45, and ESEE Izula II as my gun/knife carry pairing.

Not sure how and where that fits on the spectrum but it works for me.

Well, I think a lot of folks willing to spring for superior firearms inexplicably shirk from buying knives of similar quality.

It's like carrying a Wilson 1911 and a S&W folder. You have a deluxe firearm and a bargain basement (and possibly shoddy) knife.

Now, a lot of quality knives really aren't that expensive. CRKTs, Kershaws, ESEEs, SYKO, Buck and Spyderco are like the CZs of the knife world: solid performance at reasonable prices. S&W knives are like the KelTecs, they might work and they might not. Winchester knives are like Davis Industries guns.

Well there you go.....

I briefly, sort of as a joke carried a Davis .380 in a faux cigarette belt pouch ( Hafner's I believe) for a bit and the companion knife was a thin Paki lock back. of such soft steel that looking at a coffee cup bottom sharpened it. It was fun opening the pouch to my serious gun buddies and them seeing the Chrome Avenger stuffed in there.....of course I had a better gun an knife tucked away, give me some credit guys.

The Davis was customized, too. The guy that tossed it in as a deal sweetener had not liked the plastic grips and made his own of wood......what would you put on a Davis but hand carved pine?

I think you're spot on. My guess is that it has to do with whether you're a "knife guy" or a "gun guy." I'd bet that plenty of guys over on BFC could never imagine spending $500 on a gun, let alone the prices for WC 1911's and such.
On the other hand, plenty of guys here would look at the price of a Sebenza, Russell, or Busse and think about which guns they could buy with that money!
Then again, people in each hobby have their own idea of what quality they are willing to pay for. Some people think I'm crazy for spending over $100 on sneakers, but as an avid runner, the quality is worth it to me.

You should see what the loonies who are into HAM radio spend!!!!

These tickle my fancy:

He didn't put up a picture of a Mead or Avery file or manilla folder. That would have been funny.

I like the look of some garbage Puma folder I have. It resembles bannockburns top picture. I also like the look of the Spanish folding knife, it has a real long blade and such.

It's only a knife!

And a knife is a tool. And there are good tools, and there are bad tools. The Winchester knife happens to fall into the category of the later for the reasons JShirley listed in post #18.
