Best Low Profile Gas Block For This AR Build?

There is no front sight to leave alone since it has not been assembled. In fact, I won't be buying a 'traditional' front sight. This is a build, and I want my AR to have a certain look.

I'm looking for advice on a low profile gas block.

Thanks!!!

Which gas block will work best depends on how you want to affix it to the barrel and whether or not you've got a pinned front sight post already affixed, IMO. If you do, then like Sam says, I would chop it down to fit under the rail. If you just have a smooth barrel with a gas hole in it, then you would want to either get a clamp gas block, like the vltor low profile clamp version, or get someone to pin it or drill a divot for a gas block that uses a set screw. You could do it yourself, if you've got the tools and patience, I suppose.

When I switched from a carbine to mid-length gas system, I just had the place I ordered the barrel from put a divot in the barrel for a set screw, then used rocksett on it. I've heard some people's thoughts that everything should be pinned, and I think that's probably true in the long term, but my gas block is covered completely by the rail, so impact shouldn't be a problem. I'll pin it when I get the tools to do so myself...

I like the EGW design; it's light, relatively inexpensive, and it positively clamps on with two cross-bolts so that it's not dependent upon set screws.

I've used more than a dozen of them in my builds with complete satisfaction.

I am not sure if it is what you are asking, but You can't use the MBUIS on a gas block- it is too short (it correct height to mount on a rail in the hand guard), and it will melt on the gas block (it's plastic)

If you want to go that way, I like the Vltor as well.

That said, I'd look at one of the integral Gas Block/ folding sight set ups, like this one:

vltor, daniel defense, etc. Any well known brand gas block will be fine. Midway had some under $40 last i looked.

Since most any railed gas blocks available are not set up to be pinned onto the barrel, I prefer low-pro gas blocks under a long anti-rotation float tube with forearm-mounted BUIS.
