Best shot I ever made? Asked my wife to marry me. She accepted.

Buddy and I were looking over a picked field when a quail killer popped out. Called heart shot. In coveralls I then sprinted 75 yards along the edge and dropped to a knee and around 85 yards sent a 240gr through the beasts heart.

My buddy was stunned.

For two reasons.

One I called it before I did it.
Two.....I can run pretty damn fast.

After hernia surgery ( on sick leave ), my cuz asked me to go dove opener.
Told him carry my crap and Ill go (had another surgery before the hernia one and was in incredible pain ).

Running the 1100.magnum w superhandicap 7.5s.....we were the last to the field. And the only open spots, were the best ones. I about fell over, hunted that field for many years...how could the best 2 spots not be filled ?

In absolute misery, and scorched on top of that.....i shot a triple and four doubles on my way to a quick limiting out. The triple got a standing ovation.

I used to have good eyes and a fast brain, plus knew a little bit about what to do.

But Im falling apart and getting stoopid.
So I tend to be more conservative in shot selection these days.

Hell last yrs buck was maybe 30 yards or so. Dropped him stone dead and felt kinda bad about it being so easy
