Due to my aging eyes inability to get a sharp focus on the front sight of the old Westfield-branded M60 my late father had, it sat idle in my safe for a number of years.
When I noticed that replacing the factory gold bead front sights on my several Marlin LAs with a Williams Firesight FO unit was all that it took to allow me to start putting my hits where I wanted again, I looked into finding something that'd replace the old M60's one-piece front sight without having to resort to a gunsmith or spending close to what the old rifle was worth. Unfortunately, there wasn't much of anything that met those criteria at the time.
One day when visiting the Williams web site to order a 'windowed' replacement front sight hood for my 1895 Guide Gun I ran across a listing for a drop-on Firesight front and rear replacement set specifically for the M60. At about $17 plus S&H, I figured "what the hell" and ordered a set.
The swap took about 15 minutes and only required a flat blade screwdriver, a small hammer and a brass drift punch. HUGE difference! Not fancy or 'trick' looking but works like a champ. After the approximately twenty rds. it took to establish and verify a new 'zero' at 35 yds. I ended up putting another 200-odd through Dad's old rifle just for grins. I can now get good definition on my front sight and put my hits where they're supposed to go with it, so it's been getting out a lot more since.
Just my $0.02, but if you want to upgrade your sights without dumping a lot of cash into the deal, you might want to give these a try.
