What's the best option for getting a brighter front sight on my M66 with the integral front sight? Now it has that chintzy red plastic insert from the factory. Better than a mudball but not a heck of a lot.

It's not pinned in? If it is, it's a pretty easy swap. If not, you'd have to go with some kind of milling operation such as this:

http://www.jackweigand.com/interfs.html

Which, I expect, is a fine product and would be nice to have, but I don't really have the know-how to judge how serious an operation it would be to put it on (too serious for me, is all I know).

I'm curious about this too, but the other way. My front site IS pinned. How do I go about putting a Hi-Viz on it? Where do I get it? Can I just pop the pin out, switch the sights, and pop the pin back in? Also, for normal daytime shooting, what color is better. Green? Or red/orange (whatever that color is supposed to be)

So far, I havent been able to find any real information about this.

Thanks

i've never seen a m-66 that didn't have a pinned front sight either. it might be a little hard to seen as the final polish is done after the sight blade is installed.

Pinned and not

I had the Weigand fixture put on my 625 and I like it a lot. Cost about $25 locally and requires milling the old off and installing the base.

As far as Hi Viz for pinned, see SDM Fabricating

He will put his super sight on pinned or not pinned and I have heard he does a real fine job.
