I want to properly seal and protect the wood stocks on my Pietta Colt Navy, armi sport Enfield and T/C Hawken. All the guns were purchased finished and have been in use from 2 to 1 year. The wood finishes are all in good shape but I have only been using Ballistol on them. I'd like to make sure the wood is properly protected.

What is the best product to use ( for example, Tung Oil, Tru-Oil Gunstock Sealer and Filler or the Tru-Oil aerosol)?

Thanks!

As long as the finish is in good shape, don't worry about it. The finish that came on the guns is good enough for normal wear and use. If you start to see the finish wear off, then you might want to think about redoing it. I would probally use Tung Oil or Tru Oil if you refinish the wood.

Agreed if you want to clean them and or polish them then i would just recomend a good furniture polish. Like most things made out of wood that are finished. Keeping them dry not wet or subject to getting wet is the best thing. That and i actually take small cloths and wrap each gun when i put them away. this way i know they wont get scratched, wet or full of dust.
