Bianchi?

I haven't purchased a new mass manufactured holster in a few years, and got a cheap IWB from Bianchi while I wait for an ordered good rig to be delivered.
My question is simple - when did Bianchi start having thier leather made in Mexico? There's a tag saying so on my rig. My M-100 doesn't have that - got that about 3 years ago or so, maybe longer, last time I bought mass manufactured.
That was really disappointing, as was the holster.

Bianchi makes an excellent ISB holster, but that one isn't it. Go look at their model 35 Pistol Pocket.

Also Mexico has more then its share of highly skilled leather workers. The problem is the quality of their leather itself, which isn't always up to par. As a result a number of highly ranked companies have been sending U.S. or other skins down south to have it fabricated into products - including gunleather - for decades. Unfortunately the handwork that's required is no longer affordable on this side of the border.

Having made my own hand-crafted holsters I can assure you I'd never do it to make a living...

Bianchi (which has not been owned by John Bianchi for many years) has different "lines" of holsters, and you got the cheap one.

I like High Noon's "Mister Softy" and "Bare Asset" IWB holsters. Within the limitations of any soft leather holster, they work very well. This is what I usually get for a new gun until my custom job can be delivered.

Yup, but John is still active - doing what he likes best. He's making one-of-a-kind custom western outfits, aimed at well-heeled cowboy shootests, as well as others that go for Hollywood style rigs. If you want the very best, and can afford it, he'll make it.

I have one of the 3S that Old Fuff mentioned. It is a great IWB!! I also have two of their 7L's which is a pancake, They are also very good holsters. the 3S and one of the pancakes fit my SP101 and the other pancake is for my Glock 21. I don't think either of mine where made in Mexico.

Bianchi was a good choice. That is the brand of holster I use while I'm on duty
