You'll appreciate this, then, doc!
Took my girls out shooting a couple weekends ago. Set up our targets, my youngest starts plinking away with her .22 bolt action, and I go over the basics with my oldest daughter about her new Mossberg 500.
She loads up, chambers a round, and in 2 shots knocked over her target stand. We looked at each other with a "that sucks!" expression, because it'll be a while before the line goes cold and we can fix it.
Soooo...Daddy pulls out his M&P 15 Sport, goes over how it functions with her, explains the peep sights (which she's never used before), and said "OK, try shooting that water bottle we set up next to your target."
BLAM! Water bottle splits wide open on her first shot.
"Nice! Now try that soda can out at 30 yards."
BLAM! Soda can blows completely apart.
"You always have to shoot like this the first time I hand you something new to shoot?"
"Well, dud, Daddy!"
Meanwhile, my youngest sits there, plinking away, proving that squirrels aren't going to be safe around here, either...
They're 17 and (allllll most) 15.
