I find that Big 5 has generally ridiculous prices on everything, period.
Their "sale" prices are right around the going rate - their "normal" prices are highway robbery, nobody buys their crap, and they even disclaim that in the flyers (something to the effect of "Big 5 Sporting Goods does not make claims as to how many units of product sold, if any, at normal price").
I go there for Mosins, that's about it. Everything else can generally be had at Walmart for a lower everyday price.

The only deal I ever found at Big 5 was a pair of Corning Serrenghetti sunglasses for $35.00. This after I had paid close to $200 for an identical pair a year earlier at Washington Square Mall.
This either makes me stupid for paying Sunglass Hut prices at the mall, or smart for buying a 2nd pair at a good price!?!

never buy the ammo at big 5... it is cheaper elsewhere...
Some of the Big 5 sales are ok but even the manager there told me not to buy ammo--way too expensive. Mosin's and shoes are about all they're good for most of the time. I did just pu a pair of 26 mile range walkie talkies for $60there--Over $100 everywhere else I looked.
