Little off topic

But I wonder which one would look worse in court room, an ar-15 with 30 rnd mag or 12 guage riot gun with 4 buck?

How it will look will depend on a variety of factors, including the circumstances of the shooting and your ability to articulate to the police, DA, judge, and/or jury why you chose that particular firearm.

Any weapon can be twisted into an "instrument chosen by the defendent to insure the death of his victim or because said defendent was irresponsible" by one with the motivation to do so. The key is the ability to articulate why you chose the weapon you did, and educate all involved so they see the wisdom of said choice.

I think I would take whichever would give me the best chance of being in the courtroom after all the shooting is done, regardless of how it made me look.

Seems to me this entire 'issue' would be laid to rest if we just issued the troops something akin to soft tip hunting ammo instead of ball. Hague convention be damned, it's not like the Islamist fundamentalists we're ostensibly fighting at the moment would follow the same.

They use ball because it uses up more of the enemys resources. A enemy soldier gets hit, then it take two soldiers out of the fight to care for him. Not to mention the horrible effect causualties of fellow soldiers have on moral.

Taking two soldiers out for a wounded man doesn't always work.Based upon the intensity of the battle,it may not be possible to help a wounded man.My experience with the M193 round was they NVA were killed when hit or shortly after. The NVA did drag off many of their dead and wounded after a battle.

OK, BUT, if you have more than a passing interest in the subject, you don't have to be average.

JShirley, appreciate your comments and experience.

A tired urban myth.

Wounding an enemy so his buddies have to cart him away doesn't help when he's only wounded and still shooting at you.

Bottom line: good 5.56 ammo puts the enemy down, whoever the enemy happens to be. And just as importantly: anything worth shooting once, is worth shooting as many times as it takes to stop it...
