For you guys that live out in the western part. It's too far and I'm too old to go.
But a lot of my friends go to this one. It will be all I can do to go to the one in
June in Indiana. But go we will.
Well I wasn't going to shoot that year at all. Just wasn't feeling good. The last
day which is on a Saturday, That morning I changed my mind. Started at 9:00
and shot until last relay at 5:00. Took the usual one hour lunch break. The last
three matches I had left were the Flint. Boy was I tired. The short shoot in the
Spring is a lot easer on me. Mike L. Shot on crutches last year. Bad foot.
Now he has a bad elbow. Old age is getting him too. Kidding him about beating
my score I shot there when I was 65. I call it the "65" club. Mine was a 99 3X.
Mike won't be 65 for a couple more years. I feel kinda bad now. Hope he has a
better year.
This is definitely on my to do list this year ( already arranged for a few days vacation time ). I live about 20 minutes away from Ben Avery and have been shooting there for a long time. My interest in BP shooting got started a little over a year ago and the addiction hadn't fully set in until after last years shoot.
I plan on having the two pistol kits i'm working on finished in time for the meet.
AHhhhh, I have won many a hawk & knife match. A hawk match is where you
throw your tommy hawk at a target which might be a playing card stuck on a
piece of wood. You get so many points for sticking it, and so many for sticking it in the card. Usually throw from about 15-20 ft. Knife is the same.
You usually get 5 throws. Rules might be a little different from club to club.
The hawk blade cannot be more than 4 inches wide. Knife must have a handle
and have a cutting edge. Here is a video of me in 1990 throwing. No laughing now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9tobdeYvXs
