Al had a decent knife collection. It was larger than most folks', but not huge. He leaned towards a lot of high value for cost knives, with an occasional rare gem.

I have posted the first of 3 lots of Al's knives for sale here. I'm asking $100 for the 4 folders and fixed blade, though of course the buyer is always welcome to pay more. All proceeds will go the family.

I personally don't care for liner locks, and none of these are. 2 lockbacks, and 2 framelocks, offer dependable strength, and the lightly used Mora is a stealthy classic.

These knives remind me of Al. They aren't flashy, and they aren't super expensive, they're just quiet workhorses that will give you a lot without much fuss.

John,

Does Himalayan Imports even make the Moon Knife any longer or has it become a Unicorn?
The current Jun (Moon) knife is shaped differently. This Moon Knife dates from at least 2006, because I loaned it to my former FIL when he went to LA after Hurricane Katrina to service some medical equipment. He never worked with it, he just kept it in his van for protection.
I gave this to Al between 2013 and 2015. It doesn't look like Himalayan Imports has made any for years.

I actually have photos saved of the moon knife to my phone from back when it was posted a few years ago. I’m working on a reduced size version at work.
