Bill would prevent sales of guns that can be converted with ‘Glock switches’

The Glock has been out for a lot longer than these switches- definitely not a scenario of the eternal chicken or egg question. I say the responsibility is on whoever is making these non-Glock manufactured safety switches. They should be made.. more illegal? People have been modifying firearms (and other items) in all kinds of ways- some that work, some that don't, and many that are outright illegal. People have modified coffee pots to cook meth. These monkeys are trying to outlaw ingenuity.

You haven't already?
No, I haven't heard about Glock switches on the evening news. Seeing as how I seldom, if ever watch the evening news though, I might not be a really good example of how many people know what "Glock switches" are. I mean, we don't even turn the TV on until the evening news is over, and Jeopardy is coming on.
Come to think of it, "Glock switch" might make for a good high-dollar, or even a "Daily Double" clue on Jeopardy -
Answer: "This device is made in China and can turn a pistol into a machine gun."
Question: "What's a Glock switch?" 😁

The local range had a registered Glock Switch for the entertainment of their Money-into-smoke clientele. It had a stock and front grip, though, and was a fair SMG. They downconverted the Glock and replaced it with a P90 alongside the existing M16.

True, and that's part of why this could gain traction.

Agreed, but like was said earlier they are either they want to conceal it easier or they are too stupid to know that they could and it would make it "better".

Or they think it makes then look more like a "gangsta" from an old movie or music video, but wait I just repeated myself.
I just think they are degenerate idiots that the anti-gunner us as pawns

Yep, my first reaction was, "What's a 'Glock' switch?"
Now that I've heard about Glock switches though, I'm counting the hours until I hear about them on the evening news. ;)
they are used all over Seattle and Western Washington. used by kids mostly who steal Kia’s and do smash and grabs. I really mean children too… 14 to 17 yo’s. It’s a mess out here and with Summer coming, will get WORST

oooh and never charged with manufacturing a machine gun. Mostly release with bail

Let's say Glock caves, engineers a way to make the switches obsolete and offers to retrofit all those registered Glocks in NY. Then all the illegally modified, unregistered pistols will just magically disappear from the streets. Next, the criminals will say "Aww man, I can't sell my stolen Glocks in NY until I get them fixed"
Great idea.
Round of applause for common sense gun reform? Anyone?

I shot a MP5 at the machine gun rental , it shot very accurate
MP-5 shoots from a closed bolt, which tends to increase accuracy versus open bolt designs, as there is a "pause" as the auto sear holds the bolt back the tiniest skosh, which lets you pull the sights down just that nth bit.

Most self-loading pistols need a mechanical disconnector to stop them from being full auto all the time. Problem being that, often, the pistol is still recoiling backward as the slide leaps back to strip a new round into the chamber and then fire.

The technique, such as it is, with full-auto pistols is to aim at the feet and let the muzzle rise do the rest, to the amount of care a criminal might have or want.

Didn’t know this was a thing, other than there are some out there. An epidemic ? Doubtful
If you are not in major urban (esp. blue-run) metro areas, they are probably not that common. Given that alibaba and temu will happily drop ship the US$30 gizmo to a PO box, they are more than passing common where criminal gangs are common.

Similarly, if on's local news is not populated by regular reports of gang criminal violence, then mentions of the dinguses will be far fewer. But the news out of Atlanta has been reporting the use for better than a decade now.

the newest generation of Glock Switches are flush. Now you can’t even tell what Glock has a switch or not. I think this legislation has teeth. Go get your GLOCKS NOW!

I keep up with these things because I live in Seattle

We went through similar with full-auto AK/AR conversions ...
About 20 years ago, a fellow who was an FFL dealer was buying up cheap AK's and converting them for friends and family. I don't know how much trouble he would have been in because he killed himself during the raid. Happened shortly after his wife found out about his girlfriend and vice/versa. Woman scorned they say...

Odd, we hear very little about banning AR's and AK's. Oh wait. NVM

I have a 50 round drum for my Glock. No real use for it, it was more or less a one finger salute to we all know who. Now with these switches around I suppose it will look suspicious.

Don't hold your breath.
I was a police officer for 30+ years. I rarely saw prosecution in a case I was involved in for sawed off, modified to full auto, or homemade silencer brought forward for prosecution. "Felon in possession" was usually read in or dismissed. They have the laws and tools, they are underutilized. The lawmakers are just angling to restrict legal possession. So obvious.

I worry this will one day be expanded to include all striker fired pistols. However I don’t know enough about the switch technology to be sure. Is the switch only compatible with Glocks?

I am sure Lakewood will be lovely.

... and never charged with manufacturing a machine gun. Mostly release with bail.

Wrong demographic for such charges.

If you put a Glock switch on a Glock 7, you can spray bullets into the past.

I have little doubt that a handful of authoritarian states will jump on the bandwagon with legislation against Glock.
