Spring is coming and need something to replace my broken champion bipod. I'm leaning towards a Harris sitting model but also seen those bogpod tripods get a lot of praise.

What do you guys use?

I have both, it depends on the hunting.

Lately I've been using my Bog Pod a lot more as I find it versatile in that it's not attached to the rifle and easily moved. My normal drill is to set up, orient the Bog Pod towards the most likely avenue of approach (often wishful thinking) and set the rifle in it. When I realize the game isn't read in on my plan and approach from a different location, I either re-position the tripod IF I have time, or shoot from another position. Sitting I don't find one anymore stable than the other.

Both take practice, the BogPod maybe a little more so as it's not attached.

If I was an assassin I would get the setup in your pic. :) lol.

BTW-sweet rifle! whats the details on that thing?

Oh, and amazing deer above. Congrats!

Not mine, just poached a pic..... I've thought about getting one like it $$$$$, but just don't have the need. Most of the LR shooting I do is prone, and when the grass gets tall I bring in my M37A1 "Tactical" Portable Shooting Platform (A2 will have cup holders and a sunshade):

Also helps the whole chigger/tick issue we have here.

Love your portable shooting platform. Is that a spot where you could build a permanent platform? I wish I had that kind of open area. Ever cut some trees and I will.

I could I guess cause I own the ground, but really prefer just driving about and setting up "wherever". On my place I have berms & swingers that go out to 760y depending on where you set up. Once in a while the guys I deer huntwith will just do "walk abouts" when we practice with the meet guns at different distances and from field positions; off pack, prone, tripod etc. I've got a permanent bench on a concrete slab that goes out to 300. This is from yesterday when I got lazy and did some chronographing off the back deck, from there I have tgts at 407 and 547:

The "M37A1" trailer really started because with 3-4 guys, guns, spotting scopes and misc chit, we couldn't all fit in my UTV.

Nice. I'm jealous. :)
