The 6mmx45 and 6mm TCU are very similar, but do have differences. The 6mm TCU has the case blown out a bit and has the Ackley Improved type shoulder angle. The 6mmx45 is just .223 necked up to .243.

Matt- thanks, I suspected as much. I used a 6TCU in the early '80s and gave it up for a 6X47 International Match. Slightly more powder capacity and longer neck, seemed a little easier to load and shoot accurately.
Thanks again and good shooting!!!!!!

I'm asking again, please. What is the difference between 6X45 and the 6MM-TCU from 25 years ago? Surely someone knows, please!
Pretty sure the TCU is based off the Benchrest Case. This 6x45 is based off the the .223 Remington.

Except for use in AR-15's, what does this round do in a bolt-gun that a .243Win doesn't do already?...and better.

nothing; the advantage is, it is a non overbore for powder, 6mm round. and in ar's, it uses everything the same as a regular ar, except the bbl. even same mags. many peeps consider the 243 overbore...
and then for handloaders, you would have to say, there is more cheaper, easier to find brass in 223 , than in 243. and even if you stuff it full of powder, it is a mild recoiler.
