Texan by birth, in Colorado cause I hate humidity
So, I took my new AR308, some rattle cans from the hardware store, some pine needles and I fixed my boring looking rifle.

I used sand tan as a base, OD green, flat dark green and red/brown for my colors. Works well here in CO. At least where I live. If I were in the mountains I'd have done a darker base coat. Even managed to camo my hand...

Nice job! That came out very well!

That said ...

Since I don't even like the idea of something like Cerakote on anything that own, I seriously doubt that I could ever bring myself to do that to one of my rifles ... well, perhaps with the exception of my original FrankenFAL Beater. Perhaps. :)

-----------------

After thinking about it ... if I could get a result that looks that good done for me with polychromatic Suncorite, I might be interested. I have always been impressed with just how TOUGH that stuff is. ;)

I've done a couple of rifles/shotguns like that and generally like it. I should probably do that to one of my AR's. I like how yours turned out.

That color would fit in nicely in my area although if you set it down and walked off for a piece you might never find it on returning. Except for the mesquite bushes and beargrass that is the color of everything this year.

By the way, it made a nice rifle from the standard black.

I just started doing my own Cerakote over the winter/fall & while I like any color on my AR’s, long as it’s BLACK, I’m spraying my Bench Rifle Chassis inTactical Grey.

All that matters is what each person likes themselves. Great job man!

Good job! I have a R700 done up similar. I take it you are on the eastern CO High Plains... Not too dissimilar to my area in easter KS.

My custom Marlin Papoose was done in Duracoat

Two of my ARs wear Boyds wood furniture and another has a YHM furniture set in RealTree camo.

Tend to go battlefield relic look with rattle can finishes. Make a brand new build appear as though it has been rode hard and put up wet with scuffs, rubs and scratches. Some well positioned gun lube prior to spraying creates interesting looking defects when smudged.

And an FDE job over an OD job with some gray in there has a nice look, especially with black shining through the lubed spots...
