I voted AR15 because it's what I grew up with, went to war with, and still use to this day at work. The only round I have shot more of than 223/556 is 22lr and that gap probably isn't that big.

Much as I love my M4A1, it would be my third choice. Second would be M1A, love it too. If I could have only one, it would have to be my .308 Galil (not golani), an AK variant.

AR15 all the way. Its the sporting rifle of our time and will be around for a long time to come, and so will ammo/components

I have an ar 15 this is the second i have owned lost first to put food on table i have loved them since the military.i had no problems with irons always hit what i shot at would not trade for any other riffle. Easer to clean than other simi rifles. Like others said lots of different calibers on one platform

I've always been a .30 cal guy, and they will always have a special place in my heart and my safe, but for 2A purposes, the appeal of the AR-15 has become undeniably apparent. My 5.56 AR has proved itself to be extremely reliable, light weight, handy, accurate, and capable of putting the rounds where they count out to the same type of ranges my .30 cal battle rifles can. Plus I can carry about 3 times as much ammo, and spare parts are easy and cheap to source. I have mine set up to fit me perfectly, and it just plain works.

those that hate them primarily fear them out of ignorance, transfix upon cosmetic things like bayonet lugs, pistol grips, flash hiders, telescoping stocks and their ability to accept high capacity magazines.

Ain't that the truth. According to them, the Savage 110 BA is an "assault rifle" (https://www.vpc.org/studies/militarization.pdf, page 18). :scrutiny:

And you left out the Ruger Mini-14 in your Poll!

While it has its very own VPC "study" (http://www.vpc.org/fact_sht/RugerBackgrounderJuly2011.pdf), perhaps the author felt the standard wood stock was too innocent looking?

Personally I went with the AR

For some reason the "Black Rifles" have never interested me, nothing against them just not for me. It has nothing to do with bayonet lugs or high cap. mags as my 30 cal. carbines have those as does my Grarand, Springfield and Enfield, Mausers and others. Guess I'm just old school, but for those who favor them, go for it.

I want to get my first "black rifle" this year and I had no idea the options were so vast. I don't know where to start. I know its just one for me tho. I'm broke lol.

Henschman

Henchman, if you reload look into the 300AAC BLACKOUT in the AR platform. Range is not going to rival the 30-06 or 308 but I like it a lot.
